Switch Controller Triggers Not Working

Hey so im sure this has been asked before but i thought i've tried everything. My W key on my keyboard barely works so i gotta use a controller rn, but the triggers dont work in game (shoot and aim). i tried turning off analog, changing the buttons to other in game options, etc etc. when I try to update the config to something other than the official config, it switches back and says incompatible. any help is appreciated :)

The game doesn't support switch controllers for obvious reasons, try configuring it through Steam's controller settings.

non of the games i play has switch support, but Destiny is the only one that gives me issues, as it plays fine with a Xbox layout in any other game, but here, no triggers, wtf?
