Exotic Class Item Farm

Does the chests in the Pale Heart still drop class items? Been running it for a long time and haven't gotten anything.

The drop rate from random chests was significantly nerfed, not that it was great to begin with, and the rate from Overthrow chests was buffed.

People complained and whined to Bungie that chest farming took too long. So in response Bungie increased the drop rate but tied it to Overthrow wave completion chests, nerfing area chests in the process to "maintain balance". You can I believe still get class items in area chests but the odds are now well into sub 1% territory.

So if you are playing solo, grinding Overthrow is your best option now. You can also pick one up at Xur each week.

The funny thing was, if comparing time investment, area chest farming would before the nerf earn you about the same amount of class items as running the mission back to back.

erm, xur claims the class items need to be unlocked first. whatever that means?

You need to have completed the Dual Destiny mission at least once before you can get class items from any other source.

The xur purchase isn't limited to one you can buy as many as you want. imo Faster and less mind numbing than farming overthrows but slower than running dual destiny.

You are correct, my mistake. I went back and read the old TWID, it is the Exotic Cipher that is limited. I knew it was something exotic. lol

I have completed 6 overthrows and have not gotten a single one. I hate how they handle drops in this game

been there, done that, too many people who wont follow instructions

plus exotic class item inst even worth it unless you get a prefect roll

You didn't need to let the topic know you aren't running the mission either, but you did that anyway. Dual Destiny is a really fun mission if you can get a buddy to run it with you. Some of Bungie's better content.

I don't even have dual destiny unlocked and yesterday got 2 exotic class items from overthrow :/
