This needs to change (Xur related)
I'm fine with having a cap on strange coins IF Xur simply never leaves every reset.

Let's face it, Xur showing up every friday lost it's specialness some time ago. Having a cap on a currency when there are times where you can very easily reach max in less than a day while you'd have to wait a whole week not being able to spend or get more just sucks. Fir me, being maxed out on strange coins makes me not want to do core playlists because I'm missing out on getting the most out of it- which makes me not want to play at all. There's no good reason why the following can't be changed:

Xur remains at the tower and his inventory refreshes on reset. Strange coin cap remains.

OR

Xur disappears every reset but Strange Coin cap is removed/raised so high that only no lifes would be able to reach it before Friday.

OR

Xur disappears from the tower every reset but can still be randomly found at random planets in different set locations.

I think we all know Bungie is all for player retention and keeping players playing nearly constantly. so having things like the currency lockout and weekly lockout of Xur is pretty baffling. So I think that they should do one or more of the changes I suggested to incentive players to be able to freely play how much they want without feeling like they need to stop and wait a few days or more.

I don't want him watered down, but Bungie isn't going to put more effort into him. I'm giving realistic solutions. In a perfect world there's a ton of things I would like for Bungie to do that I think would make a majority of players happy- but this is the real world and the simpler and more monetization approach is always what will be chosen first over player interests.

To clarify, I don't want things to get more watered down, but that's exactly what will be done, unfortunately. I just want what I think would be very simple but good changes.

OK, to me what you ask does water Xur down more. The game doesn't revolve around Xur, there are other things in the game. Xur is a limited feature, what you ask is to remove the limit and make him mundane in my opinion. I don't see a problem with increasing the cap on strange coins, some, not a crazy amount. If you only play once a week because of Xur, that's on you, for me Xur is that little extra from time to time and I don't even visit every week, most but not all weeks.
I should clarify that I don't just not play due to Xur, that would be absurd. I meant that it's a pretty feels bad moment when you're full on coins, especially when doing a fair amount of Haunted sectors this event, and you can do nothing with them. I haven't been playing this week because I had a falling out with a friend. Things didn't need to happen this way but did, but that's not important nor do I think you care about that>

My point is that this could be better but it's probably not going to get better. At the very least the strange coin cap should be increased. At least doubling or tripling it, or allow for the strange coins to be turned in to the Xur at Xur's treasure hoard for something, at least then you're not entirely locked out until friday if you're maxed out.

Xur rarely sells anything good so does it really matter all that much. Him selling class exotics is probably his best offering until you have the rolls you want then it's something you will never buy. The rolls on exotic armor are usually pure trash tier. The artifice armor he has sold has all been terrible roll wise. Very rarely he sells a good legendary weapon. Very rarely the legendary armor is actually a cool looking set the stats on the other hand are almost always trash. The exotic weapons and catalysts are only really good for a new light because all the ones he ever sells are easily obtainable by playing the game plus hawkmoon. All he is really good for is ciphers and maybe some shards/alloys.

Yep most of what he sells is garbage. But the economy of trade/sell/buy including currency is garbage too. I listed a few things that's current that should be eay to fix. There's less glimmer options now, more garbage items that's not necessary. They didn't fix it by just removing legendary shards.

Because it made you come back.
I didn't play for a whole week. That didn't make me come back on it's own. Tell me what is better for player retention, stop playing for a whole week because I don't want to not earn the most I could because I want to level up vendors for resets for multiple perks per column VS being able to play the same amount I want EVERY day a week without fear of missing out on max rewards.
The fact that the strange coins affects how you play at all means its doing its job. They don't want you to fill up on coins and not have to think about them again, they want you to get fomo when something you want comes around and you need to play the get the coins.

Its like anything else that has artificial scarcity, they want to control how you play so they can show their investors "look how many people played at this time and doing this stuff."

You got it backwards, if there is a cap on something then it ensures that players come back to play more when they spend said currency and need more.
if you're not playing the game anyway and just logging in to see what you can spend, then you're still not going to be playing the game anyway. this doesn't actually do anything for player retention.
if anything theyll eventually realise they cant afford anything else and may stop playing til the next season altogether. there's little reason to log in these days and doing the same strikes ive done 1000 times 21 times in a weekend aint the content im here for.

Everyone that i used to play destiny 2 with, just login every week for 2 minutes and then out again. Some don't even login again. in months if not a year+. If things are to improve, then that is exactly what needs to happen. They did remove the legendary shards from tradeable currency, but that didn't improve the economy by doing that either. There's some very simple quality of game/life updates that could be done and theres no reason not to do them. Other then annoying the remaining playing playerbase who notice the same things as i've listed beforem as well as in OP thread post.
