Are hand cannons balanced in pvp?
I genuinely cannot tell, cause it feels like the cheesiest weapon to fight against. Point and click and everything just dies, close range, long range, don't matter.

I play with auto rifles, and it feels like they're the absolute worst weapon to carry into pvp. Is it just me or what?

EDIT: I got outbreak perfected. Not an auto rifle, but often just feels like it works better-ish I guess? Idk. Autos feel like they're built like close range weapons.

It seems like pulse rifles and hand cannons just dominate pvp, so much easier using outbreak than quicksilver.

Only AR exotics I got rn are Monte and Quicksilver

OP, you know you're also allowed to use Hand Cannons ?

If they are so broken, use one and benefit from their brokenness.

I would recommend against using Quicksilver as 720 RPM Auto Rifles aren't the best in PvP.
I personally recommend 360 and 450 RPM Auto Rifles.

It's a matter of playstyle. I like auto rifles. My problem is that my auto rifle feels like it's damage falls off when shooting anything that isn't like 2 feet away from my face. So I end up dealing like 9 damage per shot at medium range and beyond, meanwhile a hand cannon seems to function just as fine. It's like a more controllable sniper rifle.

Using Quicksilver, even with 100 stability, I feel like recoil becomes barely manageable at medium range, and damage falls off quickly.

Wish I could at least slap a counterbalance on it so I could at least have a more predictable recoil pattern. Being 7 points away from having 95 straight line upwards recoil angle sucks.

Yeah but the selection of kinetic exotics that fit that bill is incredibly limited. There are more exotic pulse, HC, snipers, etc than there are autos :/

Then just use Legendary ones, save your exotic slot for something else or just use another Legendary

Go actually use a hand cannon in PvP.

Please.

Then come back and tell us how broken it was and how you were one shotting peeps from 300 miles.

You might find your perceptions are wrong.

Hand cannons have higher ttk and are less forgiving for missing bullets in the sense your ttk goes up more for missing compared to other options. They are effective because they have high aim assist and peak shooting potential as well as being good mid-range options which is the most common range on most maps.

They are weak close range and long range compared to other options and they struggle to win duels against other mid-range options without cover since they can't utilize peak shooting. If they do have cover they are very very effective which makes them very popular among players who are confident in their positioning.

Autos are super good in todays standbox and we've seen many auto-rifle metas recently so that might just be a you problem. Consider using 450 autos rather than 720 as they are the most dominant auto archetype.

Doesn't it make more sense to have the main weapon you use be an exotic?
