Xur currency change sucks....
I have been playing Destiny 2 since beta over on Battle.net which was also the only time this game had proper Anti Alaising, but I have always been able to purchase anything I wanted from Xur since we got the currency from EVERYTHING.
Now with the change to strange coins I am finding no way to buy anything outside of doing content that I have zero interest in. I have ran strikes, dungeons and seasonal content but the only strange coins I have are ones I had from before the expansion and have yet to get any more from anything else.

i actually agree. the currency change with Xur is a pile of ♥♥♥♥♥.
Gotta drive up those engagement and retention metrics!
Yep, cept in my case it's working the exact opposite....don't even care to play anymore due to all the BS changes in the recent xpack.

yeah. but there are people who don't want to be forced to engage in activities that they have no interest in.

I have an auto rifle that i waited for weeks and weeks on end to appear in Xur's offerings. When it appeared, i was over the moon. and i immediately bought it.

If i didnt get that auto rifle before this currency change, i would have been thoroughly pissed.

Fyi he only sells world drop exotics so if you got everything from year 1 and 2 then you most likely won't get new stuff from him, you'll need to focus engrams at Rahool.

Are those not all purchasable anyway with Ciphers at the exotic gun kiosk thing ? So Xur only sells them to you for an easier to acquire currency basically, if RNG favors you.

Yep and lots of other NPC's got changed too but Xur is the one who's currency change is an issue.

It works fine. It's not an issue.

What can I say, run some Ritual playlists, you'll be capped on coins in like 30 minutes.
I have ran them and not got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from them. Maybe my account is bugged or something but I have yet to get any strange coins from anything I have ran which IS a problem.

So you haven't run Ritual Playlists.

You can't just go to a destination and click Strikes from there. That won't work. Go to Vanguard, click "Strike playlist" and you'll get coins.

How dare they change something that did NOT need to be changed and then force me to do content I have zero interest in just to engage with an NPC that I have had no issue with for YEARS.

honestly, i feel your pain. this change was not required. who even asked for this change?

Xur kinda needed changing though. His inventory was kinda stale at this point, and the additions they made make it actually engaging. Catalysts, and the rep is a good addition.

The biggest issue is the 99 coin cap, but I can see why they went with that.

i can agree, his offerings got a little stale. but no one was really complaining about it.
plus, i actually got a long lost auto rifle from Xur using standard currency, so i was fine with it too.

Same could be said about anything else in the game such as why do I have to do trials or raid to get something...

Destiny 2 in a nut shell is "put up with stuff and do what you need to to get the loot" so if you want the thing then you do the thing same as any other game.

Also, before Xur didn't use Strange Coins. You're thinking of Dares of Eternity.
what it have to do with him selling stuff before for leg shards, that dropped literally from everywhere
Fact is, Legendary Shards needed to go. The economy of vendors had to be balanced around them, but long time players had tens to hundreds of thousand stockpiled, so vendor prices went up, which meant new players had to grind more just to catch up.
So this leaves us with Glimmer as a vendor currency, which was already used extensively. But oh wait, Xur used Strange Coins in D1, and through Dares we have them back, why not add them back? Sounds like a logical conclusion to me. And they drop quite generously, as others have already pointed out.
Look if the strange coins came from more sources I could care the hell less but as it stands now they don't, so it's an issue. I never played D1 so I couldn't care less what currency there was in that game.

Now if they added strange coins as drops from lost sectors, public events, strikes and the like there would be no need to even discuss this but they do NOT.

There is the problem, we did NOT have to do anything special for Xur before, everything from running around the EDZ just killing ♥♥♥♥ to running raids gave legendary shards either directly or in-directly, so why the hell make it difficult to get the currency now? Want to change the currency go right ahead but make it just as accessable as it was previously, as it stands now that couldn't be further from the truth.

Xur didn't sell anything special before, now he sells new catalysts and upgrade materials so you gotta jump through new hoops to get the new loot.
