Just ignore them, play the standard matchmaking mode. It's more relaxed, just as fun, and you only miss out on the shiny Brave weapons (which you get one of for each brave weapon quest anyways, and they're usually pretty good rolls)
If you want to play non-mm, just get a bunch of friends to do it with you. Guarantee you'll have a better time
There is no need to use meta weapons, unless you really want them. I use Tarnation sold in Hall of champions, plus any smg with 60 range, high dps and 36 bullet and Ignition code with demolition perk. And I wear Peacekeeper just to speed up my control with smgs.
And yes I do play on normal 50 wave Onslaught activity on playlist activity I play on legend with the same gear setup. Also I intend to use void subclass with dome power to be more of support because random players always spray and pray to hijack the points before you.
Not to mention you have to invest 3500 scrap into trip wires before they become remotely useful (1000 initial, and then another 1500 for the upgrade which allows them to respawn on their own during a round, rather than be a one pump chump)
It slaps.
