Not even anything to do with Final Shape. There is a public event attached to Into the Light, time gate is to stop everyone farming the rolls they want in week 1 and then leaving the queue times long for the remaining time.
This update has everything to do with maintaining engagement after the delay to The Final Shape, there also isn't a public event but rather a whole new activity.
My bad, I was under the impression that when you buy a game, you play it. But smooth brain players just want it all at once.
