Overall GMs being super rewarding is not the problem, it's a good thing, but if they dropped everything there would be no reason to run anything else. Acendant Alloy being a valuable material rewarded from other activities gives players a reason to do said other activities, but if they also dropped from GMs then no reasonable player would choose to do those activities over simply running a GM.
I think the overall sentiment really comes more from there being few activities that drop alloys reliably. If campaign missions had a GM mode or something of the sort that gave a 100% chance for an alloy plus a chance for an additional one like GMs do right now with shards, then I think a lot of this frustration over a lack of materials would go away.
If someone stops playing the game because they have to many crafting materials that person shouldn't be playing destiny at all and that one activity are gm's we arent talking about a 1600 patrol zone. If you look at the GM achievement for PC only 6.9% of the player base has completed a GM thats NOT counting epic games or console but overall not a large percentage has completed GM's and most people that have completed GM's only do one or maybe two in their life. so yeah even after reading what you just said I still believe alloys should be in GM. I gave perfectly good and reasonable reasons why they should drop.
If I am correct, I could be wrong.. The only places you can get Alloys right now are the weekly campaign mission or the wellspring. Wellspring is slowly but surely losing its population if not already a large amount. Weekly campaign missions can be long and tedious for a very small chance for them to drop. We are not counting purchasing from master rahool because thats just, its buying them directly from a vendor.
I guess you can technically say they already do drop considering the materials you get now from GM's you can use to purchase Ascended Alloys. So I guess that would be the reason given for them not dropping.
Ascendant Alloys are already way more accessible than they have been before being able to be purchased from Rahool and actually give a reason to replay master tier witch queen and lightfall activities.
We each give our good reasons to think what we think To each their own brother. I will say that yeah I suppose having alloys drop in GM's would be a bit much.
