What's a good 1st slot Auto Rifle?

Outside of my crafted Ammit in my second slot, I've been running Tigerspite and occasionally Krait, but I feel like they're both pretty lackluster, what's a good Auto Rifle to use?

Rufus's Fury but if you can't do the root of nightmares raid then Old Sterling is a good Rufus alternative if you can find one otherwise grind out gambit to focus engrams into Breakneck.

Sorry, would these be good for PvE? I primarily play PvE, but will dabble in crucible stuff if need be, but it isn't a major focus or priority for me.

Breakneck, with the right roll, slaps in PvE. My preference is Subsistence/Onslaught, for perks.

Rufus Fury is top tier, S tier if you can get enough borders to craft it. Quicksilver the exotic is also great, good thing is if you get the catalyst which converts it to strand, you can also get the kinetic version from collections

the main problem is that auto rifles suck in pve, like pretty much all legendary primaries. if u need to run one go with rufus fury, but i would honestly just run sunshot or trinity if u want a primary and be done with it lol

Most of the good autos are secondaries ofc there are exceptions but as for me I havn't had a primary auto in my main loadout in years. Thats just bc I havn't gotten a rufus' fury tho:(

Also the crafted shotgun Until Its Return can get some awesome rolls like Cascade Point

Breakneck(from gambit) with Subsistence and either Demolitionist, kinetic tremors, osmosis(if you're one of those people) or the best option onslaught. pairing subsistence and onslaught is a great combo since subsistence gives you more ammo each kill and onslaught gives you more dps via a faster fire rate per kill
