Control no longer considered a ritual activity?

Why make Control be the only pvp mode in the crucible (not counting private matches) that doesn't count as a ritual activity? Why would i want to play Relic or Rift when i just want some fun quickplay?

Then proceeds to not have it progress the weekly objective and pushing people away from it.
