90 exotic guns - to get rank 10. What are they thinking? OMG.

The game has 70% useless exotic guns.
Just because you have them, you won't gain any skill.
70 would be enough for rank 10.

The overwhelming majority of that is either floor drop exotics or quest drops... it'd take several weeks of ciphers to get up to 90, but you can skip 23 whole exotics.

Don't need ciphers. Rank 10 already assumes you have all the content so there are loads of specific exotic sources whether their quests or random drops from bosses and there anything that isn't is a world drop from just playing the game. The weekly stuff from xur is a bonus way to get more.

I mean, if you're someone who's been in the game for a while, having 70 is easy but for newer players this is definitely a very tall order. It took me aaaaaages to get 70 so I get where you're coming from. Just don't stress it too much

If there are something like 112 exotic weapons and only about 40 that require exotic ciphers then you need at most about 18, you don't need to "wait a year." If you started now you'd get enough ciphers from season rewards and weekly xur get within the next season while you also gather other exotics from direct or rng sources like quests, raid, and dungeons plus the two or three new exotics next season. Also iirc with Forsaken you should've gotten 3 ciphers to start with so that knocks it down to 15 and again with new exotics next season you could possibly need as few as 12 kiosk exotics depending on your rng for raid/dungeon exotics. Guardian ranks are supposed to be for the top veteran players and not someone who just started this season. Guardian ranks reset each season anyway so don't stress out about a meaningless number.

I mean, it would take a total of 20 weeks to get the rest of those ciphers (rough number) and tbh if you have been playing for less than 20 weeks I wouldn't worry about Guardian ranks
