Biggest flop of commendations
Besides resetting seasonally is that you can't give them out in the open world...

Why would I want to give some random that I don't even know the name of a commendation at the end of a strike but I can't give one to someone I find and actually interact with out in the wild.

Can you w+m1 in a strike? COMMENDATION!

Did you run up to me and give me laugh or help me make a public event heroic? YOU GET NOTHING

Comondations are 100% useless. They have one purpose and that is higher level guardian ranks that reset every season anyway.

I agree that having them reset seasonally makes them as useless as guardian ranks but still, the one place to really use commendations didn't get them.

I do agree that there should be more interactions with the system, heck I feel negative comondations would be good, BUT the system as is is highly chesable. People are already at over 6k by using cheese farms alone.

The fundamental uselessness of them is that YOU gain points by GIVING them. This means that at the end of every activity, you are encouraged to dump your meaningless commendations on random players. Guy who i barely saw all activity? Joy Bringer! The problem wouldn't be so awful if you only gained positive effects from being commended rather than commending people. Also, the ability to commend people on your friends list frankly feels a little silly

100% Agree!
I was so disappointed when I realised this very limited function.
99 out of 100 vanguard runs are wham bam thankyou mam, job done, sorry I did not catch your name. Whereas in the open world I many times come across people being funny, helpful, or crazy that I would happily throw a commend at.
