Help! My screenshot key isn't working in Destiny 2!

I keep pressing F12 to screenshot a thing or two but for some reason I don't see the notification or sound for the screenshot. Idk if this is a bug or something?

I never used Steam Overlay

I just pressed F12 in destiny and it took a screenshot. I heard the screenshot notification sound and a screenshot was successfully taken.

Does pressing f12 work in your other Steam games?

Perhaps try this : Steam, settings, In-game, Screenshot shortcut keys, try changing the screenshot folder and rebind the f12 key.

A workaround that you could try if it still aint working, try pressing prt sc on your keyboard to take a screenshot, ctrl + v to paste it (paste it in discord chat, steam chat, windows paint etc).

If you press the PRTSC key in Destiny 2, it will save a screenshot to documents/Destiny2/screenshots.

you can also go to settings and change the key to screenshots. As I use a 65% keyboard I use a less-used key like " ] " to take screenshots. You can also change where these screenshots go

Not trying to call you out but why? I could understand ditching a numpad to save space but the f key are too useful to cut out.

I cannot see any reason to go below a numpadless keyboard myself, I have a small desk so there is a reason I have a keyboard without the pad but going anywhere smaller I just cannot see why, and I believe a keyboard like that would have a way to still have the function keys, just layers which sounds annoying.

Are you using HDR? Then this is the issue.
I don´t know why, but in some games HDR prevents you from taking screenshots with steam.

This, It would be nice if steam could update to have an HDR compatible interface, shouldn't have to see super bright neon or a white washed browser in the overlay.

I don't think it's just Steam, the PRTSC was also not producing screenshots for me with HDR on in game. They did get it to look pretty good though. I am using Windoze 11 auto HDR now, screenshots work with both F12 and PRTSC now.
