As someone who has listened to the fearmongering of how bad Trials is, it really isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. Walk in with a Loadout for PvP you're comfortable with, be flexible and swap out weapons if some style of play aren't working out for that Set, and keep your Light Level up. Walk into Trials on Freelance on Sunday and Monday, as the sweats tend to be corralled into the Flawless Pool.
Don't get me wrong, Destiny PvP has a long way to go in terms of consistency regarding connections (Having someone without extra melee lunge range managing to lunge at you despite them not being in your melee lunge range, double or even triple enemy melees in the time it takes for one of your melees to come out) but unlike 6 v 6 the "Room for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" as it were comes down to meta-sweats and people dooming your Trials run by quitting, which honestly should have griefing protection on the people having to fight an uphill battle (BUNGIE, CMON. It's annoying to have to waste my Mercy on a 1 v 3.) I can't defend PvP as a whole, but Trials can be rewarding if you achieve Flawless.
As for the weapons, nobody besides the 1% needs them.
Precision Frame compared to Adaptive Frame Fusion.
They both have Harmony, Chill Clip and Successful Warmup, Perpetual Motion and Steady Hands. Both are Stasis, and both have Adept versions of the weapons. Similarities end there.
Surprisingly people build Deliverance with Demo Chill Clip, even though Riptide is a better Chill Clip spammer... Adrenaline Junkie or Bait n Switch I'd assume for PvE, Tap The Trigger or Harmony for PvP?
Elemental Capacitor or Killing Wind are strong on Burden of Guilt, then something like High Impact Reserves or Harmony up the consistency of the weapon in PvP, Swash and Vorpal have their places. And again, Alacrity is really strong.
Adept Mods have a hilariously low chance of dropping out of Grandmasters, but yes they do drop from there if you're at the top of your PvE game, which is arguably more consistent then what PvP has to offer. Only issue there is the difference in Loot Pool, and both D.F.A and Mindbender's Ambition blow chunks. Everything else though can be really good.
That's an issue I also have with the players in Trials. Does not sit well with me that both my teammates can just leave and I'm sat there completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of a Flawless run. No compensation or safety net that convinces me to stay there and get bagged fighting a 1 v 3.

The only mod that drops from the Flawless chest is the Adept Icarus Grip (Only one I don't have in collections other than Taken Spec), everything else you can get from GMs.
