Destiny 2 PC. Optimization or what?
Hello everyone, I've run into this problem. My PC is AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, 8 x 3.3 GHz, RAM 32 GB, GeForce RTX 3080 16 GB. With this configuration, I get around 70-90 fps in Destiny 2, this is not normal because I play Hogwarts Legacy in high graphics with the same indicators. I switched from hardware 1060 6 GB and intel i7 8750H, 6 x 2.2 GHz, RAM 16 GB and I will say that the game seemed to me better on it. If anyone has experienced this or knows how to fix it, please let me know.

This is dependant on where you are in destiny, but 70-90 is not BAD, but is somewhat low, might be worth using DDU, and then clean install of drivers.

I have not had issues with Destiny in terms of FPS, it tends to only got below 100 in gambit when someone is invading, there's a lot of effects happening, and a lot spawning at once.

Also before DDU, check for driver updates, windows updates, etc.

Lemme know how it goes

Thanks for the answer, but I don't see any reason to do this. I monitor the indicators and here the problem is clearly not in the temperature or component updates. For comparison, I play most games that require many times more resources than Destiny 2 and in them my performance indicators are always at an excellent level.

The difference is that Destiny 2 is running on an updated version of an engine designed for Halo Reach which was itself was already built off the engine for previous Halo games while Hogwarts Legacy is running on Unreal 4.

Also, what resolutions and settings are you playing at?

Do you have not only a high resolution but also an upscaler running? (like my nvidia settings love to do a 1.5x resolution upscale instead of doing AA, on my 1440p monitor)

The game has a real variable frame rate regardless of the latest hardware.

It's something I think could be worked on both user and engine side issues.

There are various guides showing some of the graphical options to change, namely the FOV over 85, change 3D AO to HDAO or Off, use Medium Shadows, DOF Off, LOD's medium, and never tamper with the resolution scaler.

Performance isn't really bad considering the huge maps rendering. There are other hardware side switches, turn off hyper threading, texture filtering in high performance, that's up to you.

Resolution has a little performance impact but that's in 4k. - 1440, 1080, 720, all seemed to perform about the same for me.

I would like to see Destiny in the Unreal Engine, that would be optimal for future installments. This one runs like dx9.

We can dream, Unreal Engine with Vulkan. That should get this game spinning 300fps for Crucible.

Another thing would be to cut maps up back into more transition zones, may radically improve performance over huge open maps.

don't you have to enable the custom resolution for that to take effect though?

I play 2k, tried various settings from ultra to the lowest, disabled and enabled all kinds of functions - there is absolutely no difference in frames.

Something wrong there as I'm on 2K and get 130-144fps on a 5600X and a 3060Ti.

I imagine it's a driver issue for you, or you borked your InfinityFabric speed?

I updated the driver recently, and there are no technical problems. Besides, I think that in this case, it would affect other games, but the problem is only in Destiny 2.

Well we're on the same gen processor, same gen graphics card, and yet I'm getting vastly superior performance on inferior kit.

So the problem is either your infinity fabric speed (should be set to exactly half your RAM speed), or you've got a driver issue.

For reference I'm using Nvidia driver 517.48

I'm on a 5900X and a 3080ti. I'm usually sitting over 150+ fps except for in the most hardcore of fights, then I drop to 100-ish

Did you turn low-latency mode on in nvidia control panel? if so, turn it off. it does definitely reduce the fps in this game (with it on ultra i drop below 70fps in fights)
