Why can't we use power Melee with a Glaive equipped?

As the title states, we can't use power melee abilities when using a Glaive, why?

Glaves should have their own powered melee, like throwing it and using the light to pull it back or a spin attack like from Zelda.

he probably means like the Valkyrie from warmind higher damage but slower recharge it would be a cool exotic perk but i can't see bungie doing this

With that logic we shouldn't be able to use powered melee when using ARs, Snipers, Shotguns, Rocket Launchers, Grenade launchers, LMGs, Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Fusion Rifles, Linear Fusion Rifles, Trace Rifles.

Real (technical) answer: lots of stuff takes up the melee function when you're holding it so the game "can't" use your charged melee because you technically don't have one at the moment even though you can still throw grenade or use class ability (some things do take up those slots as well). Iirc there are some buggy exceptions such as I think you can or used to be able to shoulder charge while holding some specific things like the hive sword from escalation protocol if you try to use super with it being fully charged so another answer:

Probably the same reason you can't do it while holding a sword, your melee button becomes the melee weapon button, and your melee charge meter becomes the weapon charge meter. I don't know if they made it that way for balance, or for ease of use, or something to do with the code, but it's a game-wide mechanic, so it's obviously intentional.
