Progress lost

Just updated Destiny 2, but I've lost all my progress. What to do?

The game just updated to the 6.3.0 version. But once the update was done and I went to select my character my level was back to the starter level of 1356. And I basically have to start the story back at the beginning. Is there a way to retrieve a game save ?

Where were you at before? You might want to contact bungie on their support thread (on bungie.net) if this is really far from where you were before.

I would advise waiting until the servers are restored to full operation before trying to load a guardian, the game most likely failed to fetch the data from the cloud thus it defaulted to 1350 power starting phase.

Maybe you have/had a halloween "mask" on which lowered to 0 power level a month ago.

This may also be the problem, I wore the mask and after the event I couldn't even kill the random PVE entities on moon for example, replaced it and my full power was restored.

Yeah, mouse-over each piece of gear you have equipped, see what its light level is. You might have something with zero stats equipped. This might include an exotic, I haven't checked to see if any are currently disabled, but it can drop your light level quite a bit if one is.
