Red Border Problem
Non red-border weapons are pointless and god roll weapons are too easy when they are craftable. Here's a fix:

Make all weapons craftable.
Make red borders more rare (only slightly).
Increase level requirements for crafted weapon perks (by a lot).

Problem solved.
Extends shelf life of non-crafted weapons and makes the player work slightly harder for the perks on god roll crafted weapons.

It's that easy.

There literally isn't any issue other than some Season weapons required too many weapons to unlock.

Also, non red border weapons are not pointless.

That's literally one of the dumbest hot takes I've ever seen in Destiny history.

I personally disagree with your personal opinion.

Do I want the perfected forms of crafted weapons? Sure but if I get a god roll randomly then I'll probably use that instead just like I've been using my year old god roll wastelander instead of bothering to get a new crafted version.

Do I auto dismantle all weapons that can be crafted? Sure but that's also because I probably wasn't even going to use the weapon itself at all or the perks are just bad and I know I could do better with either a future roll or just craft it if I really need it.

For example unless the crafted versions of the deepstone crypt or Ikelos/seraph weapons actually have something worth getting then I'll just stick with the ones I got years ago.

As for making them more rare, why? They are already rare enough and take potentially months to get.

And for making them longer to level up just fix/nerf the cheesy leveling areas.

You can get a god roll for any crafted weapon within an hour of getting the crafted version.

Any weapon that has crafted versions, but isn't a crafted one, becomes obsolete within the hour of getting the crafted version. That's a problem.

Crafted weapons are both a blessing and a curse. Let me explain:

On one hand it means RNG can't screw you as hard, which is great, but on the other it means non-crafted craftable weapons become pointless. Might as well have all craftable weapons be red borders whenever they drop without exception because let's be honest, you are only using them until you get the crafted version.

What I proposed ensures that non-crafted, craftable weapons can be used for longer since it will take ACTUALLY take time to get the god-roll. It also means there is a wider pool of red borders to get, letting players get the roll they want for ANY gun without dealing with RNG.

I think that's a win-win. Cut out RNG but still making the player work to get their god-rolls.
It's a bit like leveling up in any other game ever, where it actually takes efort and time to get the be-all-end-all roll for said weapon.

Your statement does not make sense:

"Make all weapons craftable."

Okay if all weapons are craftable. How is it in your next sentence, you say:

"Extends shelf life of non-crafted weapons"

There isn't supposed to be non-craftable weapons anymore if ALL weapons are craftable.

Next, why is it your personal interest to make it harder for everyone in the game to do this? What does this accomplish and satisfy in your head? What triggered you to come up with this idea?

Are you frustrated because players around you are stomping enemies and they all have these powerful 'god roll' weapons and so on? I'm just curious what the motivation is for you to just throw this at the community and suggest making the game more difficult, when in fact (as others have stated) the challenge to even get the crafted weapons that are in-game currently to a fully Master Worked and perfect perk setup takes a while as is. Especially for one shot weapons (bow/scouts/pulses).

So again, what triggered you to come up with this idea?

Non-crafted weapons simply referred to weapons you'd get before they are crafted. So any weapon with a craftable version, that isn't crafted.

My personal interest is to make non-crafted, craftable weapons more useful.

We are seeing the same thing happen to non-crafted rolls that we saw happen to green and blue engrams. It's content creep and random rolls are going to be redundant if crafted versions are so quick to get and level up. I am simply trying to extend their shelf life.

Firstly I don't think it'll make the game more difficult. Red borders drop VERY often and everyone at this point pretty much has all or most of them, maybe barring raid weapons.

Secondly, god roll crafted weapons doesn't take long at all. It can be done very efficiently within an hour-ish for most weapons. Their isn't any unique challenge or anything it's just using the weapon. That's it.
