PSA: Pass the damn ball!
If you're doing the Nightfall this week don't be that guy that just takes the ball and throws it. No you pass that ball to a team mate and let them throw it for more damage. I've seen this too many times so swallow your solo pride and just pass the damn ball.

Its not solo pride, they're just clueless and are the kind of people that want dungeon/raid match making.

If they have not figured it out when it's in the strike rotation for 4 years then they never will on their own. This particular strike will always default the answer when people ask for high end content to be matchmade. 50% of people can't deal with the only enouter mechanic in a strike never mind a 6 person raid mechanic encounter without premade vetting.

ah... the usual post when the corrupted is in NF rotation.

dont get me wrong, i fully agree with you. its actually frustrating sometimes.
if youre really unlucky you get stuck with 2 people not knowing how they work, and it takes ages for some people to realise.

i usually go for a ball myself, make sure im between the players and the taken and just throw it at them. in 80% of the cases, people make the click and understand, the other 20% learns the hard way.

however, in the real rare case that even after the elevator and pre realm phase, they still didnt get it, its just hope and pray that they die on the way to the last platform and you get time enough to try and deal with the endboss before they arrive and can screw it up.

ps: there is a skip if you didnt know, it can backfire by you dying, but if you make it, you win like a minute or 2.
right after the elevator went fully down and the doors open, leg it and sprint towards the place where you have to fight the ogre minibosses, but dont enter. what will happen is the knights and savathuns watchers will despawn, aking the pain a bit less, if youre dealing with people that dont know the mechanic.

anyways more matchmaking would be great to have. Maybe not for raids but stuff like seasonal missions on legend or master nf maybe even gms. I can stil use the app ofc or lfg but having it in the game would be so much better.

It's fun when YOU get the thing and toss it, the that person just drops it where they stand.

What a pity there's no way to make a big teal popup appear at the bottom of your screen that says "throw the orb to a teammate to increase its power".

I mean... I just got back into the game about mid-June and never knew this was a thing until a couple days ago so you can't always blame your team since they might not know this is a thing. It's not like the game makes any sort of notion about it-

Fair enough but we're probably talking about the players that don't learn. If a team mate throws the ball at you and you see it start glowing I'm sure you would be able to put 2 and 2 together but we're talking about the people that don't. I've seen plenty of 300+ rank people each season over the past few years that are clueless about pretty much any objective that isn't "go here and shoot enemy."

For the elevator it doesn't really matter. They increased the spawn rate of the orbs and now both sides spawn instead of just one. If you can't survive an extra 3 seconds to throw a another orb you have bigger problems to worry about... In fact, I think it takes almost the same amount of time for a new orb to spawn as it does to toss it to a teammate. Hate to say it but this post reeks a little too much of "elitism" lol

The boss is a little bit different. It goes a lot farther to use the bonus damage there. I can definitely agree it would be a minor inconvenience and possibly even an irritation if your team dies at any point because it can't be cleared in an efficient enough manner.

There is so much time before each wave spawns there isn't any reason not to throw the orbs at team mates.

Sure, but it also have little to no effect on anything if it doesn't happen... it doesn't matter. Surely not worthy of a rant post lol. If your reasoning is the potential of losing because of it you have MUCH bigger problems than the game of catch you didn't have with you dad in the front yard.

OP is probably talking about needing multiple orbs for the boss, I'm simply countering your "elevator doesn't matter" with there is no reason not to, if someone is clearly waiting for you to throw the orb at them then throw it.

i usually just jump infront of the ball when team mates try to just throw it directly at the boss, catch the ball that way and then throw it at the boss. Or just take a coffee break. I hardly think they have any desires of the game at all, as it's more likely they rarely play pve content or this strike at all.

You can also charge the ball, change the weapon to drop the ball and charge the next ball.

And take a ball after Sedia escaped, to actually deal damage ( or even kill her ) before you reach the final area.

An interesting idea I'll have to try that later.
