Unlimited ammo
New player here.
Noticed that some weapons have unlimited ammo, while others do not.
Is there any lore-friendly explaination for this?
Feels weird somehow.

No lore reason, it's purely for gameplay.
And it's restricted to only primary ammo.

White ammo (primary ammo) is now infinite.

Green (special ammo) and purple (heavy ammo) are limited.

Our ghosts have picked up a few tricks over the years and can more easily synthesize generic primary ammo for basic guns and always keep our pockets full. Special and Heavy weapons require more complex materials that we need to pick up.

Lore, or no, it doesn't matter too much.

What they said, "Primary ammo" weapons are intended to be your bread and butter weapons, while "Special ammo" and "Heavy ammo" weapons are for harder targets. You can see which is which on the weapon itself, and the ammo bricks you need: primary = white, special = green, heavy = purple. Primary ammo used to be limited with ammo drops like the others, but since it was intended to be what you use all the time, the ammo drops were so common you virtually never ran out anyway, so they removed the formality of needing to pick up ammo for it.
Im aware of the gameplay reasons, looked it up after playing.
Just a sucker for lore so i wish there was a in-universe explaination for this too.
In another game it was explained via wearing high tech armor that has inbuilt nano machines constantly producing ammo out of particles in the air or something.

Weird explaination but hey,i take it.

EDIT: Speaking of lore,i have no idea whats going on or who i am and why im doing stuff.

As I said above, our ghosts make most our stuff. In this universe they learned to digitize matter so those engrams are pretty much algorithms for specific loot. Objects including people are constantly being transmatted around (transport materialised or transported material I assume) much like other sci-fi things that use teleport/beam technology like Star Trek for example or everything being digitized like in Borderlands.

So think of the ammo bricks as blueprints for our ghost to make ammunition and the basic primary ammo doesn't need a blue print.

There did used to be white primary ammo bricks but they were very common and you very rarely ran out and then giving us infinite primary ammo is just getting rid of needing to run over them.

Primary weapons are the weakest while green special weapons as stronger and purple heavy/power weapons are the strongest usually used for bosses.

I was reading the article but it just refers to the ammo boxes we no longer get to use.
What you said makes sense but was it officially confirmed?

It's literally the flavor text: "Single-use Ghost manufacturing package. Instantly replenish weapon ammunition."
Right, but nowhere does it say that our ghosts improved over time.
From what i understood, you still had to collect those packs, your ghost didnt just make them automatically from scratch.
