You can't cheese legend rank, the only thing they don't have to do is reach legend 3 times but it's not like Bungie is just handing it out.

The only way I could see it as them "Handing it out" would be only if more than the machine gun kills triumph works.

Like I think another guilding triumph just says to reset your Valor rank twice.
