Build into what you want and use tools like d2 armor picker to optimize stats and try to get triple or quadruple 100 stats.
1). What class(es) is the armor for?
2). Do you want a generalized set of gear, or gear sets for different activities? (PvP, PvE, Seasonal)
3). What are the rolls on the gear? (From my understanding, 68 is the highest a piece of gear can roll)
For PvP, rolling with max Resilience, Recovery, and Intellect is ideal. Higher Health means you'll recover more health per percentage of recovery, and higher Recovery minimizes the downtime you need between firefights. Intellect helps you with firing off your Super faster and more often, possibly twice a match if you're on a roll. Fill out Mobility, Strength, and Discipline to fit your play style.
For PvE...well, I don't think you can go wrong with a high Recovery and Mobility. It's easier to dodge enemy projectiles than another Guardian's bullets. But really, whatever fits your style, and gives you a better recharge for your class ability (Recovery for Warlocks, Resilience for Titans, and Mobility for Hunters).
D2 Armor Picker is.....alright, I guess.
Why has no one directed OP to DIM, yet??? (You are all terrible)
Destiny Item Manager (DIM): https://destinyitemmanager.com/
Game AND Life changing. Best on desktop browser if you have a second screen (or don't mind alt-tabbing), but also a very functional and usable mobile app. There's a built-in "wishlist" that's cultivated by the top theorycrafters in the community. These items show up with a little blue 'thumbs-up' icon in the bottom-left corner of an item tile. I'd adhere to these very heavily (at least until you get more familiar with which items you like/want). These "wishlist" items have made my "what do I keep?!?!?" dilemma much less stressful.
You can also check out TMMania's Vault Analyzer: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fzn1iLI91aJOe3Wj9Vp7x41qIujjW1tRtoTLB6V_X7E/edit#gid=0
There are custom filter queries that you can use (and save, customize, etc) to help manage "what to keep" even better.
https://www.light.gg/ is also a great resource for when you want to know more details about any item.
Good luck!
mobility good bc cooldown
resilience good bc pve damage reduction
recovery good bc faster healing
discipline good bc more grenades
intellect good bc more supers
strength good bc more melee
i can no longer remove armor based on its stats. i literally have 300 armor pieces that are over 60+, and 3 stats have 40+
no matter how i spin it i'm losing something important. if i move the goalpost to 64, i'm losing one armor piece i had for my perfect no-waste triple 100 stats build (without stat mods) for graviton forfeit and 8 masterworked armor pieces (which means i used them a lot in my builds).
if i move my 3 stat total goal to 45 I'm losing 9 masterworked armor and one of them is even in that build i mentioned and also it would only remove 50 out of 300.
if i create builds for every exotic that i have i'd have to re-farm armor for every time i get a better exotic drop.
idk how to justify doing any of these but i do know that i must do something
make several armor sets, one for grenade builds, one for void, one for melee builds idk, you get the thing..
i just used the end-game vault analyzer. it highlighted 20 armor pieces to be dismantled. i am royally ♥♥♥♥♥♥...
