WHY do they keep giving bosses so much HP?
do they think make a two phase boss into a four phase just by giving it more HP makes it challenging? the boss phase is not that big a deal but all the time required GETTING there gets old fast.
I had enough of that BS with prophecy

if you are talking about the new dungeon, then i have to ask have you fought nightmares before and do you understand how to do damage to them.

stun final boss with bell, be in the area to get buff, do real damage and win

Because not everything has to be a cake walk, most of the content in the game is already easy with 'bosses' that die in seconds.

HP sponged doesn't mean the game is or isn't a cake walk - it mean's they can't be creative enough so they slap on 10 million health cAuSe dIfFicUlTy

Considering how many (though not all) casual players handle mechanics that require more thought than "shoot this," "stand here," and "dunk this," I don't think it's a creativity issue. To this day I still see people who can't bother or don't know to charge the ball in the Corrupted (yes, I'm are that Bungie nerfed the shields to one hit in the normal strike) for instant shield breaks and a burst of damage, or just being able to perform certain public events in general (Glimmer Mining, Taken Blight, ♥♥♥♥♥'s Ritual, POE Prisoner, Fallen Brigs, etc).

It would be nice to see more unique bosses, or boss mechanics, in general gameplay though despite community issues.

It's not even difficult to trigger the dps phase, kill the bellkeeper, look at the chains for the symbols, literally 34 seconds, in total it takes around 1 minute and 40 seconds to be on the DPS phase again

It is called the "MMO death ritual", usually at the end of life of an MMO product, developers tune content to 11 for exlusivity, to justify the core players time and money input, because at that point losing your playerbase is not a concern anymore.

There are three options here and I guarantee one or more of them apply - you're underpowered, your build/gear needs adjusting or you're missing mechanics. A team with appropriate builds and power levels should be consistently and comfortably two-phasing all three encounters.

I'm sorry, do you know some magic trick?
are you talking about old nightmares from the earlier expansion? because all those mods and stuff from the moon that did more damage to nightmares was a joke back then, have they improved?

Those mods only work in Nightmare Hunts which people would know if they actually checked their descriptions. They're asking if you know how the Unstable Essence buff works.
in the first and second encounters doesn't that happen automatically at the boss phase when you have unlocked the doors and killed the baby nightmares?
is it even possible to get an unstable essence without completing the dungeon mechanic or are you just talking about the last boss?

but you know this is not specific to nightmares even the previous loot cave dungeon the airplane and invisible man and last boss all had significant health that made each phase before the boss longer.

Unless you're talking about solo then no they don't have "a lot of health." Most bosses can be killed by a good team in 2 phases while great meta teams can do it in one. If you're struggling with a group then look at loadouts and see where abilities and exotics can be adapted to the situation and if you're solo then just accept that you're doing something designed for 3 people to fight.
DakotaThrice May 30, 2022 @ 4:21pm
The unstable essence itself is largely irrelevant as by itself the buff doesn't last long enough to benefit from for the most part (nor is it even needed) and extending it requires you to be using a glaive for DPS.

So I'm not sure why they were asking really.

Dungeons are actually specifically designed and built with the solo completion in mind because whilst they aren't intended to be easy they are inteded to be run in that manner and so it hads to be possible.

On the other hand whilst certain raid encounters can be completed with smaller groups they don't need to be designed with them in mind as raids are intended as six player activities.
