Is this game recommended for solo players?
I don't own witch queen and was wondering how it is keeping up with the current content as a solo player

Most of the content has matchmaking so if you're playing casually it's not too difficult. Getting loot from raids, higher level nightfalls, or higher difficulty setting for common activities does require that you put a team together. If you're not interested in doing any of that then then keeping up while playing solo is more than feasible.

I would still recommend you try and find some people over LFG or something like that though. Besides raids, most of the higher level content doesn't require communications and you just need some competent players to get through.

This isn't one of those games where you feel like you need a group off friends or a clan to do stuff. Any solo player can either use automatic match making or Bungie's fireteam finder or the d2lfg community discord to find 2-5 other random solo players to get anything done with minimal interactions.

Even if you had WQ there is not a lot to do as a solo player, and while technically possible, most things are just painful/frustrating without a team. There is some pretty cheap gating/choke point design everywhere as the diff goes up.

Such as?
Campaign: solo (easy and hard modes)
2 exoticc and side story quests: solo
Two strikes: match made but still soloable
Wellspring: match made
Weekly story mission: match made but still soloable
Throne world exploration: solo

Campaign is fun, but some Boss fights are way too long soloing on higher diff. The two exotic quests are not just the worst in D2 but some of the worst i have seen gaming in the last 20years, i had negative fun playing those.

Match made is not solo, where solo = alone.
Weekly story is the same as the campaign.

Throne World is again fun, and enjoyable as a solo player.

If you use solo loosely yea it's fine. I consider myself a solo player and enjoy this ame, I do use in game matchmaking to do weekly strikes, or whatever to get rewards. It still feels solo to me since nobody speaks, just do the strike/activity and leave. I refuse at this stage in my life, to use any outside tools to do matching so i never use discord, that bungie lfg that should be in game, or any other tools not installed with the game and accessible from within.

Short version...The game is fine for solo if you are ok with sorta teaming up for some things.

As a solo player I disagree completely.
I play for up to 7 per day, most days, and never have enough time to do everything I would like to do.
And that is without ever participating in pvp Cruci Banner Gambit Raids.
I have a great time.

U can play solo for most of it, but id recommend a big clan or community so you can get easy access to co-op content if you want to

Yeah this too.
I have zero interest in having and using Discord. For anything.

Perfectly fine to have a different view, to be honest, i get bored easily, so i swap activities a lot, now say if Vox, and the other Weekly mission had an easier to reach reward target, i could have easily 40-60 minutes extra fun every week, but many instances are so stretched to the "no fun mark" for me, that i rather skip that, or wait for a team, but then I could also do team stuff with the team, ... in short: I could use more prog. stuff / week to solo , xd.

Also, no-pvp here, pvp is loaded with leveling boosts, so that's a large chunk to make up for with other activities.

Funny enough, the legendary campaign bosses are easier solo

The parasite quest is just a solo romp around the throne world with some interesting dialogue along the way and the preservation mission is just killing stuff in the first two areas of the raid and if you completed the campaign and parasite quest then you should have no issue doing it solo.

This is an multiplayer online co-op game, not a single player experience.

story is solo
low difficulty pve is not solo, forced matchmaking
high difficulty pve has no matchmaking, is soloable but only if you're really good
raids are not soloable

pvp and gambit is not solo (duh)
Emurinus Apr 11, 2022 @ 2:59pm
Well over 90% of the game can either be soloed (as you're doing whatever activity by yourself) or there is matchmaking (randomly cobbled together fireteam made to tackle a certain activity).

The higher the activity tier, the more emphasis there is on either doing it yourself or finding a premade team (lfg). If you do the former, it will generally be more difficult.

The only things that you must need a fireteam for, assuming there's no matchmaking, is Raids and Trials of Osiris (when Freelance Mode is not available that is).

Trials can always be played with match making even while solo, freelance just ensures that its 6 solo players.
