The lightblade strike is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful.
The slog that is the darkness burden part is bad enough but jesus the bossfight might just be the worst in the game. Why keep the few fun bossfights for campain missions that we only play once every three months instead of strikes that we play practically daily ?

I actually liked the difficulty of this strike but i also understand that it probably isn't for everybody, it's not that over the top if you play passively while looking at your surroundings and don't blindly charge in. I managed to do it without dying that way.

It's not really about how hard it is to be honest, most of it is fine actually. The bossfight tho, is staight up not fair when you get OHK by aimbot enemies (which is also a problem but that's another story) as you have virtually no cover.
But my issue with it is how much it just sucks the fun out of the strike, like it's hollowed lair levels of bad (actually it's exactly the same thing when you think about it).

Bungie has truly forgotten their own lore, it seems.

They gave Savathun the ability to harness the light, and use it freely to give her guardians the same and even upgraded abilities that human and other race guardians can use, but also skills that are of a certain subclass, but are unseen, tossing multiple small "novabombs" of arc for a warlock style copycat, for example, or dual wielding seeking and deflecting void shields as a titan copycat, and large swords instead of short ranged knifelets when using solar blade barrage as a hunter copycat.

In the reality, The Light and The Force(TM) from StarWars are equal, as the light can be transformed to do what the user wants to do with it. You don't necessarily have to be a void warlock to throw void orbs, and you don't necessarily have to specialise into Solar, to use fire-based attacks.

Lore-wise, you should be able to do exactly that which Savathun did with her light abilities, form them into whatever you want to do with it. And most importantly, use void, solar, arc, freely and without a delay, without a cooldown, without the need to go to a menu, switch classes, and then wait 10 minutes to recharge the ability.

The enemies being able to spam Supers rapidly, especially the Bosses, is what Guardians can do, and always were able to, as they are the definition of a lightbearer.

Bungie for the sake of balancing and because you cannot quite use "mind control" to play the game to actually do what you want, had to choose on a handful of "skills" to pick from, but the point is:

The light is fluid and unstable, and you can do what the hell ever you want to do, with it.

And the enemies having the light, is just nothing short of Bungie seeking new ways to make super hard content, all because there is a 1% of the player population who have absolutely no problem soloing every dungeon, master lost sector, even dual-running certain Raids and such. Just because of a handful clout-chasing supergod streamers who smash on PVP or solo everything on PVE, we have to deal with content like this.

Lore wise, the "stealing of the light" does make as much sense as a Guardian being restricted in their usage of the light. Again. The lightbearer is weaving the threads of the light that were given to him, the LB controls the Light. Not the other way around.

There is one thing i dont like about it, if you join in progress at the 2 orbs pickup part, the game spawns you into the air, immediately falling into your death. Now this is a pretty large annoyance in NF, as you spawn in, drop to death, then have to wait for 30s, at the same time someone might just dropped in the orb, so no way they can even come back and pick you up.

The other WQ strike Birthplace of the Vile has serious perf drops, but that one seems fairly "mechanical bug free" otherwise.

think boss fight is alright, boss ai can be exploited, just jump between central platform and outerplatform and he follows you around by jumping - only hard part is the ads that spawn on the sides which can ohk as you said

i 100% agree the screeb area is a pisstake

Or how you get spawned at the beginning incase you do die, making you run back all the way if the other 2 players on your fireteam aren't near a checkpoint yet.

you forget that its for the balance of the game. all your logic is garbage because you dont take into account being an actual player. sure lore wise we can do all that but bro.... in reality that would break the game. common sense

I just slogged thru this myself and I see they still haven't fixed the whole spawning with no special/heavy ammo if you wipe thing. It's great fun trying to defeat a boss with no heavy ammo because you used it all on your first attempt and none is dropping anymore.

Yeah in terms of difficulty sure but at least the corrupted is fun. Well, more fun than the lightblade at least. I wasn't complaining about how hard it is (even if i do think the boss gets stupid in higher difficulty tiers) but rather about how tedious it is to run at all, even normally in playlists. It's more like the hollowed lair with the fanatic, tedious to run through and a bossfight that lasts too long for what it's worth.

Many players are quitting this strike long before the boss room.
fwwm May 4, 2022 @ 5:11pm
fun strike, lots of enemies. the swamp bit is a bit boring, I can agree with that, but the rest of it is good.
iamcorn May 4, 2022 @ 5:16pm
It is one of the few strikes that you can 100k pretty easily.

But also I want lake of shadows back in the rotation the group I'm with can farm so many ascendant shards out of that one.
Mez Koo May 4, 2022 @ 5:19pm
Lightblade is great, could've done without the swamp though but it adds variety.
