Destiny 2, at its core, is an FPS with loot grind being the merry-go-round that keeps people playing it, so definitely more akin to Diablo but still less depth in the RPG aspect. It is probably, in my opinion, one of the best feeling shooters out there. not just the shooting but the movement mechanics and power fantasy with the sub-classes.
I didn't play Destiny since I haven't owned a game console in many years, but I have played Destiny 2 basically every single day since it launched.
I still don't feel like the free-to-play portions of the game really sell it in the way that it should, but like others, I would recommend just installing it and trying it out for a while.
Destiny 2 is an action MMO with a single evolving world that you and your friends can join anytime, anywhere, absolutely free.
The thing is I don't care about your opinion. I care that you treat your opinion as fact. With out backing it up with anything but "other people". A lot of people call Destiny "Looter-Shooter", but I've seen only you calling it "FPS-ARPG". See, I can pull "a lot of people" card too.
Not to mention, that googling FPS ARPG gives me likes of Alpha Protocol, Outer Worlds and New Vegas. And I'm pretty sure those games are not really same as Destiny 2
Mmm, so ... what happens when you Google "action MMO" then?

I'm not sure what you have against the term "FPS-ARPG", or why you think it's so narrow a term that Destiny 2 doesn't fit. But regardless ... I am going to continue to call it an FPS-ARPG.
But don't worry, I'm not going to treat it as a fact. It actually is a fact, so it doesn't matter how I treat it.
Played since the start on BattleNet. Hooked me way to long for it, but glad I nearly stopped it. Ain’t my game anymore, lots of grinding (as many games) but lots of chores too.
Campaign is superb tbf. Activity’s are good, but again, lots, let me repeat, a lot of repeats of bounty’s and activity’s. Love/hate relationship as gameplay wise and art looks truelly epic.
Try the free game, don’t expect just to much. If u like it buy expansions, if not, then say goodbye.
Bungie Defence Force sure loves their fantasy land. Destiny isn't MMO, only current season matter, Stasis was balanced from the start... *sigh*
It's a FPS shooter with some lukewarm attempts at RPG and MMO-like questing, but in essence it is just a grindy shooter that does nothing of the things it tries to incorporate better than other games that are specialized on a particular aspect.
Now it's up to the player to decide if it's worth playing a grindy shooter that works in the abovementioned way, or play 2 or 3 games that are actual MMO's and are equally grindy but at least deliver the content they strive to provide in such a way that it is actually satisfactory to the player in question.
Uh-huh, so I take it from the fact that you've stooped to ad hominem attacks and straw men that you've realized you don't actually have a valid argument against what I said.
Is Destiny 2 a First-Person-Shooter? Yes? No?
Is Destiny 2 an "Action" game? Yes? No?
Is Destiny 2 an "RPG"; do you take on the Role of a "Guardian" (a Deathless Revenant, tasked with defending the last remnants of Humanity, who huddle in the ruins of their once great, Golden Age civilization)? Yes? No?
But no, hey, keep insisting that it's just me, despite the fact that several other people in the thread have concurred with me.
It gets very "grindy" at the top end/levels/light level .
The people who say it is easy either they put in 100's to 1000's of hours in to get the best gear and load-outs, or have friends that do that and help them out ALOT, or one of the many users of 3rd party "helping" programs.
I dont know if that's good or bad. Gonna try it
