Forging the Broadsword - Rumble?
Matchmaking is so bad and totally ignores K/D history and seems to focus only on Crucible W/L history. It causes Rumble matchmaking where you are massively better than the other players or massively worse than everyone else. Extremely boring and frustrating, which explains why so many AFK-bot through it.

My question is... why is this mode even included in the Forging the Broadsword quest?

It is so horrible that after playing it properly for a few matches, I switched to playing for a bit, checking mail and similar stuff for a bit while letting people kill me, then back to killing a bit... just to get the stupid 25 matches done and over with. And the rare occasional well-balanced match... I do fully play through.

This can't be what the devs intended but it is certainly what they are promoting for this mode. So, why not remove the objective and replace it with some other and more meaningful form of crucible match?

Yeah, momentum control was pretty much the only reason I did the quest in the first place. I also got to finish vigiliance wing catalyst and tons of cookies. And while both were more fun than rumble it was definitly like a weight was lifted after ticking off that and survival but when you get to the rumble part its just like "why?"

Right there you perfectly described what pushed me to make this thread :)

I didn't even think twice about Rumble until I started to play it. Then I wanted to barf.

But it did give me some unique insight into how matchmaker works. Among my first matches (while my "history" in Rumble was still unwritten and thus not used in matchmaker's distorted algorithm) I got some curious ones where there was a high content of AFK bots. In one early match the only human was horrid. I got a perfect 17 kills no deaths match on that one, killing all the bots with the grenade launcher. Nice, as it advanced that quest nicely, especially the "medal" part. The point being though... that it is pretty obvious that matchmaker is doing some weird stuff.

AFK bots are everywhere, you will get them relatively often regardless of elo. Its pretty annoying if you want to actually play rumble.

It's 25 matches period. You don't have to win or even place high in them. Half the time there's people afk in the match as well. I use the time to try and work on other ritual weapons. In my last 5 matches, I knocked off like 3 fusion rifle kills from the quest to get Komodo. :winter2019cooldog:

It is an additional 25 pointless matches on top of the already 25 control and 25 survival on top of already playing all the matches to get the previous steps and the 5 valor resets. Pointless meaning that it is a free for all requirement which either proves nothing, or let's you screw around so what's the point of having the 25 free for all filler requirement on top of the 50 rounds of team mode matches besides pointless waste of time for the sake of grind.

Eh, you could say that about the game in general. We all know that none of the "new" seasons hold anything substantial and are mostly reskinned content treading water until they announce Destiny 3, when you'll pay another $60+ to have all your progress and inventory wiped again.

ROFL. Although I enjoy the game and bought both DLCs, I don't enjoy it enough to dish out $60 to play it. I will just wait until it drops to the $20 range. Given the number of bugs, lousy support and general developer disinterest... it is not worth any more.

I even tried two season passes and frankly they weren't worth the measly $10 each. I don't plan to buy the next pass unless I see significant improvements.

And if Destiny 2 dies out in the meantime, there are other very good games to play.

Ha! Does OP even know that you have to reset your valor rank 5 times in a single season IIRC in a later step?
All these PvP complaint threads from OP are starting to make me wonder if he actually enjoys crucible..
I already reset it 5 times. And no, I do not enjoy *all* forms of Destiny PvP, most of them are too "hoaky" and unrealistic. I typically play my PvP in other games.

But this game forces you to play PvP whether to like it or not, as many of the PvE best weapons are locked behind PvP quests.
What
Since when does PvP have the best PvE weapons. It has some great ones, for sure, but you can totally get by well with other ♥♥♥♥, especially forge and gambit weaps. TBH, the biggest draw to these weapons is the masterwork imo because it costs an arm and a leg and your firstborn to masterwork anything. And armor masterworks are even worse.

Recluse got nerfed, and if you're looking for close range burn sidearms are currently super poppin and will outdamage AND outrange Recluse. The Last Hope with Feeding Frenzy and Multikill clip is even more ruthless and can get like a .5 TTK in Crucible while decimating PvE since you can get precision hits super reliably. Also, the Exit Strategy and Pillager are both great kinetic alternatives. Subjunctive has 3 solid kill perks(Swash, Rampage, MK clip) while also being capable of rolling Outlaw.
Randy's is sweet but other scouts can roll with some nice stuff too, like Nightwatch(Rampage and Multikill clip) and No Feelings(Kill clip and Rampage).
Redrix...is outclassed. By a lot. If you want it at this point, it's for the flex. There are many other pulses that are nicer, like Adhorative and Blast Furnace.

Mountaintop I'll admit is pretty cash, mainly because all the other lightweight grenade launchers are very very few. Martyr's Retribution, while cool, isn't as strong or effective as the LW GLs that just go boom. And besides it, Mountaintop and the irrelevant ones are the only guaranteed LW GLs that exist. And MT comes with Spike Grenades, which works very well with its high velocity.
Militia's Birthright can roll Spike Grenades and Rangefinder as well, but also has some other unique options in AutoLoad and Quickdraw.
The Shaxxshot is the only clear winner here, but even then getting lucky enough for the Fighting Lion or another GL to do the quest itself is far from 100% favorable. GLs are just screwed from all sides

It's just a lot of grinding, can be done within 3-4 days

Lots of exotic quests require some pvp.

Any of the ones that need anything beyond a couple of games are made for pvp.

If they were then they'd be Shaxx quests, and just because they are better in pvp doesn't mean they aren't good or fun in pve.

Tbh, it would've been cool if it was updated to be core matches and rotator matches instead. Comp matches would remain.
Mez Koo 2020 年 1 月 16 日 下午 12:23
Oh and another fun bit about the next step, it doesn't count the weekly or repeatable bounties so you only have 4 daily bounties per day and you need 20.
