Upgrading weapons...
I haven't played in a while and you used to be able to upgrade weapons with materials. Now you have to use upgrade modules? Is there an easy way to get these? It seems rare and a process. I have an exotic "Hard Light" that I have been upgrading over time and I really don't want to give up on it. It's my fav weapon.

Upgrade modules are used to increase the powerlevel of weapons and armors.

To masterwork weapons you need enhancement cores.

How do you get any of that? How often is is feasible to upgrade weapons?

You just need Upgrade Modules. Banshee-44 and Ada-1 sell them. They're not exactly cheap, so be aware of the cost as you use them, but they are readily available.

You Hard Light AR is still perfectly viable and can still be upgraded.

You can defray the cost in Glimmer by Masterworking a Ghost shell and equipping a Glimmer boosting mod. You'll also need shards though.

Also, be aware, if you have two of the Same weapon (or armor piece) you can upgrade the lower level one with the higher level one for Glimmer alone, no Upgrade Module needed.

So for example, if you had a Gnawing Hunger that was 1100 (and you liked the perks and wanted to upgrade it) and you had another Gnawing Hunter that was 1320 (but for which you didn't care about the perks) then you could apply the light level of the 1320 to the 1100 for Glimmer alone. Not so relevant with an Exotic of course, but still a way to reduce the cost a bit.

Do the four Banshee bounties on all three character each day for 12 enhancement cores per day. Use a mod on your ghost for enhancement cores/enhancement prism/glimmer from what ever it is you do.

I'd honestly only upgrade every 10 levels until you hit the 1320 cap and then I'd say upgrade every 2-3 levels.

You gain levels so fast that it feels like a waste if you get hung up upgrading A TON before 1320.

My god. Why do they need to make all these so systems so over the top. Warframe is the same. That seems like a lot of work. If I am light level 1,200 now, and my hard light AR is 1,100 now. Is it still almost as powerful as other 1,200 weapons? Basically when would be a good time to upgrade where I would see a big enough difference that it would be worth the cost?

So if I am level 1,215 now and my Hard Light AR is 1,100 then it's worth upgrading? Or should I wait?

Its just as feasible as its always been, bungie just added an extra step. Infusing a weapon requires that you get an upgrade module from either Banshee or Ada-1 and it costs the same materials as it would have taken to infuse it in the past.

You should probably wait until you hit at least the soft power cap.

Honestly its a lot more straight forward than it was in the past. Before you would need specific planetary materials to infuse gear and now you just need the one upgrade module which you can get for any planetary material depending on the daily rotation and this way bungie and just hand you upgrade modules directly through the season pass and vendors.

Is that 1,320? Wait till then? Is it going up with the new expansion?

You can also do Spiders Bounties on the Tangled Shore as well for more enhancement cores.

Softcap is 1260, until then every drop can be with a higher power level then yours.

Powerful cap is 1320, from then on only powerful and pinnacle rewards, and prime engrams can grant you items with a higher power level.

After that is the pinnacle cap, where you can only progress with pinnacle rewards.

If you are in need of upgrade modules, use a ghost mod for an increased chance for upgrade modules in specific activities. You also get 3 upgrade modules from leveling up at Zavala/Shaxx/Drifter and Xur at the eternity.

Point of order: upgrade modules let you infuse weapons into another one or change armor polarities. They don't upgrade the weapons' stats.

If you need them, exchange materials for glimmer or vice versa at the Spider.

There are also mods (Modularity) that let you get upgrade modules from finishing Crucible, Gambit or Strikes. They go on your Ghost.

Mods? I had no idea they exist. Where do you get mods?
