Ace of Spades: This gun feels very clean and is very straightforward. It has great range, increases reload on precision kills, gives you kill clip without the timer, makes things go boom, and even gives you radar in ads. You can not go wrong with this gun.
Thorn: Also a very strong hand cannon. It does suffer from 150 rpm stats, which means that it has slightly less range than a regular 140, but has higher handling. Thorn is great because of its exotic perk which poisons enemies. The poison deals small tick damage (does not improve ttk regularly*), allowing you to delay your opponent's regen and track them through walls for a short duration. On kills, enemies leave behind a green orb that flies to you when near, partially reloads Thorn, and buffs the poison effect. The buff, which lasts for around 5 seconds iirc, allows you to 2 head 1 body enemies. One downside of Thorn is that some people that I know have a hard time adjusting to its sights and recoil pattern, although this is something that I haven't really felt.
@OP there is a warlock exotic called "Necrotic Grips" that has a unique interaction with Thorn that makes a poison kill explode into an aoe that spreads the poison in a small area.
Use them both, decide what you like the feel of more, and git gud with your choice.
