Edit: it seems you're referring to https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3104663180636096966
so why would they enable anticheat support for linux if the basegame has no linux support in the first place?
You're not running Windows games on Linux, Steam is essentially faking Eindows through Linux unless my assumption about Proton being similar to Wine has been wrong this entire time.
But Destiny 2 does not run on Linux. Battle eye is not the issue, it's the emulation layer.
however there's a difference between a game that is possibly running in a community driven emulation or having to support paying customers.
That's not how DXVK works. DXVK translates API calls to direct x -> vulkan api. There is no work to do. We can provide a game in linux access to win32 dlls. We have WINE and PROTON which allow us to run windows games on linux, they need to do ZERO work beyond writing an email to turn off the autoban on non windows platforms.
Do you not know that Steam Deck is linux?
You like living on your knees so much, go buy an Xbox. I wanted freedom of choice, and the PC is an open platform. Bungie's game ALREADY works, boots, starts, and people are able to play for a short time before the anti-cheat bans them.
It takes one email to allow that anti-cheat not to ban people on OS alone.
We are beyond the need to pay for an operating system made by a company that exists to profit off of our digital fingerprint. All Microsoft does is store your data, and use it to make money. I don't want to be a part of that system anymore.
I can live with all kinds of things, but I shouldn't have to become a hermit in cave if I don't want my privacy perverted. You like the product so much you'll give away your information. Consume product all you like. No thanks.
P.S. Someone begging Bungie for "an email" shouldn't tell others how they are "on their knees".
"I wanted freedom of choice"
and thats your good right. same for bungie tho..
if they don't want give support to Linux it's their decision their freedom so to say,
you have the freedom to pick linux but that also come's with pros and cons
that you have to accept then..
"All Microsoft does is store your data"
so is FB, YT, Steam, your internet provider,
and VPN's also have a backdoor so they don't work either (just to make extra money of people)
you won't escape that tho... thats the world we live in now,
But the thing is if you have nothing to hide whats the BIG problem? (a real question)
i hope you have a nice day!
I bet you're a blast at parties. People like you are one of the things that keep me from trying Linux again, so easy to put someone down for simply not agreeing with you.
You HAVE your choice, Bungie has their choice. You want to make YOUR choice but you want Bungie to just fall in line with your choice, rather selfish, no? It's not just an email, the choice to want to send that email comes first, Bungie OWNS the IP, it was their call.
If you think running under Linux is going to protect your privacy, I just don't know what to say. You act like they are gathering actual sensitive personal information.
