I wish we could change the colour of exotic weapons
When you are previewing shaders the color for your exotic weapons change too but you cant actually apply it. Ornaments are the only cosmetic change you can make to exotic weapons. Its kinda sad specially after seeing how great some shaders look on the exotics.

I agree.

I believe Bungie considers it a PvP issue. They want people to be able to identify what an opponent is using, but ... I'd like to be able to change the colors too.

Ornaments make them money.

i never pay attention to what the enemy is using or wearing unless it is obviously there
Like who the hell is squinting their eyes from across the battle field and going "hmm yes he is using a ikelos smg and witherhoard"

If you understand the game, its easy to identify nearly every exotic just from sounds and how they shoot, if not that you might get killed by it and learn that way instead

Like "oh no the gun is pink, not like it doesnt have a giant fricking box in the middle of its barrel"

Yea seriously. It just doesn't make sense.

They could still sell ornaments while allowing us to apply shaders.

I usually discover what exotic someone is using when they kill me with it.

But then its easier to settle on a shader and feel like you don't need an ornament.

This is honestly one of the stupid thinks to say and think.

I'll give two reasons why.

1. Exotic armor can have Shaders put on them.

2. Read #1

Counter point, exotic weapon ornaments sell way more than armor ornaments because people like seeing what they buy in their hands and back to my point if you could just color the weapon what you wanted then you'd be less likely to buy an ornament to change the look for example if you could make it blue then you wouldn't buy the blue ornament.

Exotic armor can also fit in with other eververse armor ornaments so if you couldn't match the exotic ornament with the armor ornaments then you'll be less likely to buy it.

tldr - they sell exotic wepaon ornaments to change the look, they allow you to dye exotic armor to match eververse armor ornaments.

Nah, it's because ornaments exist. Y1 ornaments were by and large just recolors, some recolors are as recent as last season.

If Bungie really wanted people to be able to identify exotics properly, the armor would be way more visible and uncolorable as well. Besides certain ornaments make exotics look completely different so that argument falls short really fast.

The Ornament thing is a weak excuse as Exotic Armors too have Ornaments yet we can slap shaders on those. Perhaps the OP will get lucky and get an ornament for one of the guns they like from a Bright Engram. I have got many from those. Unless I particularly like a Exotic Gun or Armor I don't buy Ornaments.

But I digress regardless of the reason we can not slap shaders on those guns. I remember while back when previewing shaders if you had an Exotic in the Kinetic slot it was effected by the Shader. Some even looked pretty cool. Including the Ornamented Exotics.

I don't understand what it is you are arguing for. Allowing players to use shaders on top of being able to user Ornaments would be a boon for Bungie. Some ornaments may not be popular due to their color palette. But if you could decide what the color palette was via shaders, that would solve that issue. Not to mention Shaders technically already work on exotic weapons. When you have a primary exotic equipped and you preview a shader; the shader is applied to the exotic primary. It wouldn't be that hard to do and would only be a benefit.

I'm saying that a lot of ornaments are essentially shaders so if you could use shaders on the weapons then said ornaments wouldn't sell.

I believe the point is that they sell Ornaments that are JUST color changes on the weapons, prime example being the Vex Mythoclast. If they let you just color exotics however you want, then they would have to put in more effort into making sure every Ornament is a unique model.

Most of the ornaments do more than act like shaders. Regardless it would still benefit Bungie to allow us to use shaders alongside Ornaments.
