Unlike a single player game, this one has to account for the additional server work, ongoing ticket solving, and pay their own share to the network providers.
Games are business first ( I wish it was passion first too and I am sure many game devs who work on online games wish that too), gotta feel like whatever they are investing into is worth it.
I think people have a fair point about stuff like the cosmetic shop, but if that part of the game becomes too important for the income, then eventually we all get ugly armor, we have pretty good looking armor, and cosmetic feels optional.
Would I like to pay less?, sure. Then again Destiny 2 is actually one of the few games in my library that has serious play hours to it. Lots of that is grinding no doubt, well life is not fair lol.
Edit: there is also a cost on being on Steam (or any marketplace), in addition to having to calculate for players that far exceed normal server quota/player, logged in all day.
As for the short campaign, did you try legendary campaign and did you fully explore the throne world? I can understand the campaign only being like 4 hours if you're only in it for the campaign and play it on easy difficulty but just like every other Destiny 2 expansion there is so much more than just the campaign.
Money spent on it against time spent on it puts me in profit. Job done.
I guess you're mostly paying for voice actors. Debra Wilson has a ton of lines even after the story chapter is over. And Fynch never shuts up.
God I miss when games weren't live services
Why is it a bad thing to pay for 1.5 years of enjoyment and then play again for another year?
Are you a communist or why do you dislike playing for new content which has to be created?
