they have walked that back.
Well this sucks.
Your license covers access for the time Bungie chooses to make the content available.
You got what you paid for: Access to the content during its service lifetime. Which is going to end, in Feb 2022, when Witch Queen releases.
Source? Because there was sure nothing like that in the TWAB or Vaulting announcement. Unless you are confusing sunsetting and vaulting?
As for the OP, we are getting three tokens to trade in for any Forsaken exotics (minus the raid/dungeon ones). If you own all applicable exotics, those are turned into ascendant shards instead.

Outside of gameplay, we’ve also provided an update on our plans for the Destiny Content Vault. Haven’t read it yet? Here are some of the bigger notes:
The Tangled Shore, the Forsaken campaign, and Year 4 Seasonal content will be entering the DCV in February 2022.
Starting on December 7, the Forsaken campaign will be free to play until it enters the DCV.
Some activities, like the Dreaming City destination and Battlegrounds, will be retained.
I paid for Forsaken too, I feel I GOT my compensation in all the game play I have had. I feel the same this time as the last, not a big fan but it's not a game breaker either. I like the Tangled Shore, I think it a good environment they could do more with. However, I really don't go there a lot because I am too busy with Beyond Light.
I guess you don't know the difference in vaulting and sunsetting?
They ARE confusing with it, sunsetting a game is the game going away, but here sunsetting an item just locks it light power to a cap. They are not doing THEIR sunsetting, they are moving content to the vault. They never promised to not vault content.
The Forsaken campaign which is the only thing getting vaulted isn't even replayable afaik without making a new character so as far as I care it was taken away as soon as I completed it.
