It is safe to change NAT code from strict to open ?
Above is one of a guide from bungie to mitigate problem with weasel and centipede .
(beside wired connection-but this is impossible for me since cable in my area(lets just say it is my house) was nailed to the wall and the wi-fi modem was placed in the raised platform more than 10 feet from the floor)
Some people from youtube advise me not to do it since NAT open will often make network more vulnerable to various cyber attack. Any advice what to do with NAT ? Safe or not ? This week i only managed to finished one strike, 5 EAZ, one expunge, 3 lost area and one public event due to the various error code (mostly weasel).

actually your NAT is under responsibility of your ISP, probably you even can't do anything about it. if your NAT is strict, you need to contact your ISP and ask them to change it.

That's not even remotely true. Nat type can be changed from your router OP. Log into your router and see if something called UPnP is an option. If it is, then enable it. Otherwise look up destiny 2 port forwarding and follow a guide exactly

and when everything is done and NAT is still strict, what would you do?)

I'm showing the OP how to fix his issue. I'm not interested in a hypothetical problem by someone who clearly doesn't know how NAT works.

so you want to say that you have never noticed that in the game destiny 2, the NAT type can change for some unknown reason? yesterday it was strict, and today is open, and you somehow did not change anything on your side at the same time?

Thank you for your advice all.
Im already enabled my UPnP in my router based on Reap3R advices. However Razluka was right in certain part : NAT type on Destiny 2 setting>gameplay did indeed change. Before UPnP was enabled my NAT condition in the position of type 2 : moderate. After the change it became open (type 1). After 1 free roam test (kinda promising no error code for duration of 20 minutes) i checked the setting again and found out that NAT setting return back to moderate(type2).
UPnP still enabled. So in the end my experienced was : i can enable UPnP to prevent any error code but NAT indeed changing from time to time. My test only run for 20 minutes but i hope things will be good in the future.
Once again thank you for both of you (and people from YouTube)

If you're worried about cyber attacks then use a vpn but realistically you're not totally safe with either but a strict NAT isn't going to prevent someone from finding you.

thank you for your warning. My firewall and antivirus(also antimalware) still running hopefully good enuff to stop unwanted behaviour from outside.

Read this. I'm on mobile so I can't be more specific about exactly how to do it. I read their guide and it's pretty straightforward. If that doesn't work or you still need help then just reply.

Thank you. I did it. Pretty sure it works from my testing at free roam ; so far no weasel and centipede. About the NAT type however...seems fluctuating between open (type 1)to moderate (type 2)from time to time. Only try the UPnP method since doing both is not recommended. Perhaps it has something to do with different internet provider.
As long as i can play without problem i call it winning method.

Moderate is usually not an issue. As long as it's not strict you should be good. I used to have moderate all the time on Xbox and never had an issue except I rare circumstances
