Previous years solstice armor ornaments?

Some friends of mine were able to get them by opening packages yesterday. Was this a bug or can you still get them?

Edit: To be more clear, they opened up solstice packages from the EAZ and got the ornaments.

Are you sure they didn't have them from previous years and are just trolling you? 2018 and 2019 glows were automatically unlocked as ornaments if you had bought them and 2020 ornaments are being sold for silver this year.

No. my friend opened up a solstice package and it showed him getting the ornament

Solstice sets can be bought from eververse with bright dust during the event. Basically you get two sets to buy this year, the one from last year and the new one from this year.

The older sets aren't tied in with the current event, so they have been dropped to never be obtained again.

Why would you think it wouldn't? I bought the glow in 2019 with an exorbitant amount of bright dust. I should've been able to apply it to the 2019 solstice appearance just like I could to the 2019 solstice armour.

They were clear from the start that item specific ornaments would not be able to be applied due to them being item specific which also includes the year 1 ornaments like factions and crucible ornaments.

If i understand the latetst twab right, we're able to buy all the older sets at some point which most likely will happen next year.

They are there for dust. I have the option on my hunter and warlock for 2020 and 2021 sets. Anything older than 2020 is not included.

Doubt it. Your "friends" were probably trolling you. I don't see bungie making cosmetics available from reward packages seriously. They can make money out of these cosmetics by putting them up for silver and dust. There is always people buying all cosmetics to complete collections.

I also don't know why they don't include the older sets from revelry and solstice 2019 in the store during solstice.

I had the same thing happen to me and my buddy i think that if you even played during the old solstice and got the gear you would get the ornaments for free, my warlock and hunter randomly have them as ornaments when i only did them of my titan, i think it's just if you played it when it first came out maybe.

Maybe I just didn't notice it or maybe the bright dust option was gone because I already bought them but then you'd think it wouldn't show the silver option either.

Cool story, bro. "Were very clear", where, exactly? On their trash website that 90% of the player base doesn't visit. 20 years of online-games, dumbass Devs still don't know that the extreme vast majority of players PLAY THE GAME. And that is their ONLY interaction with it.

Is it really that much trouble to visit bungie.net once a week for 2 minutes to see what is going on? Even if you didn't know about the website they post them here on steam and they're kind of hard to miss with the new steam library layout.

I actually got the 2018 resplendent helm for all 3 of my characters out of the blue as ornaments and couldn't figure out where I got them from. So this might explain it damn that's cool. I only grinded to legendary armor pieces for a few back then in 2018 and now you can get the ornaments, although they don't show up in your collections.
Inb4 Bungie says its a bug and takes them away again lol

Ok thanks atleast someone said this happend to them too. My friends stated the exact same as it not showing up in their collections and only seeing it under transmog. Hope this is actually a thing and not a bug.

I assume anyone that bought the glows got the ornaments added to their account, I only got the 2019 set because I never bought the 2018 set. Why Bungie has done it like this without telling anyone this was how they were going to do it is kind of baffling though.
