Yeah you need around 180+ gbs to download everything, the game is gonna be around the 180+ gbs when it's installed/downloaded. Hope this helps!

It is going to be about 70gb when finished, assuming you have the current version downloaded, it will then redownload the game and you will essentially have two version of the full game while Steam sets it up to use the new version.

No it's not like that guys, the game will be around 70GB once installed, 180GB free space is required because it's aroung 100-110GB of the existing installation + the 3.0 update that will be downloaded :)

No it's not like that guys, the game will be around 67GB once installed, 180GB free space is required because it's aroung 100-110GB of the existing installation + the 3.0 update that will be downloaded :)
from what i gather if u have it installed already u just need the 113 gb free space for it, so essentially u need 113gb free space

You could uninstall the current version first, when maintenance starts at 7pm. Then proceed to download the pre-load. All you need then is about 70 gb. (And click PLAY continuously until the game starts.... the next day! :steamsad:)

I'm confused, so is the game going to be 180 gb of size on tuesday if i just update, but only 70 gb if i uninstall everything and download the game again after beyond light?
Kellion Nov 5, 2020 @ 10:49pm
It's going to end up 70gb on your drive, no matter what you do. If you have the room, just let Steam do its thing - no need to uninstall.

If you're tight for space, uninstall first during the maintenance on the 9th. Then you will only need 70gb of space on your drive to install the update.

The pre-beyond file size is 110. The post-beyond file size is 70. However, the post-beyond files are downloaded before the pre-beyond ones are deleted, so the process that will happen is:
Current files, total 110
Download Beyond Light
Current + Beyond files, total 180
Delete Current files
Beyond files, total 70

So you need 180 total space free including the current install, or 70 extra space not including current files free, until after the install.

think the most confusing part is more can we uninstall and just install the 70gb or would we need to reinstall all 180

Just uninstall the game and then download it again instead of updating.

Not sure why people still seem to be confused:

Everyone who currently has the game installed WILL have enough drive space to install the update. All you have to do is UNINSTALL the game first on Nov 9, after maintenance starts at 7 pm (Pacific). Uninstalling will free up over 100 gb on your drive.

Then install the pre-load files, which are going to be 70 gb. Instantly gain 30 gb of free space on your drive!

they mentioned in the TWAB that keeping the original files installed will help speed up the pre-download process, so don't delete your game unless you really don't have space

I don't think it will last a few days but I am expecting issues for a couple of hours on launch. That's always how it goes.
