What does dismantling weapons do?
I know u get the materials from them but what can I do with the materials?

Glimmer and legendary shards are pretty much used for everything and gunsmith parts are traded in with the gunsmith for weapons.

If you're quite new then the best use of your legendary shards is definitely trading them to Xur for exotic weapons and armours. He shows up on Friday and leaves on Tuesday.

Really wish you could trade gunsmith parts directly for Glimmer and legendary shard
