Yes, you can't glide after attacking with a sword.

They should'int have nerfed the skating, rather they should have embraced it as TF2 embraced rocket jumping and Trimping. Bungie similarly should have expanded on sword skating as its own skill based form of movement.

Sure, make swinging your sword at nothing do damage to you.

I am mocking your comparison but if you're serious then they might as well have the same draw backs that your examples have. Rocket/grenade jumping hurts you in TF2 and if you use the specific weapons that don't hurt you then they don't also don't do damage to other players.

I was only bringing up those examples as a way of showing skill based movement capable of absurd mobility, obviously if destiny were to do something similar it would have to be uniquely destiny and not just straight rocket jumping. Also would like to point out that the only part of Trimping that hurts the user in tf2 is the fall damage, and thats because it uses the charge mechanic and geometry of the terrain plus controlled turns to launch yourself which is actually fairly similar to sword skating in D2 if i remember right. Mind that its been ages since i last played tf2 and i don't know how to sword skate in d2 so im likely wrong on a couple things but the overall point still stands does'int it?

Sure, but there should be drawbacks but only being able to use it so many times (self damage) or to take more ammo to do it or make a special exotic for it so that you give up the exotic slot, power slot, and damage in a trade for mobility. How it was before was essentially just a free skip for lots of content.

I think not having a viable heavy weapon and using your exotic weapon slot is a fair trade off for the ability to skate...

Maybe a pair of exotic boots as a secondary enabler if skating really is as overly strong as some would suggest.

nope it is not right. You can kill yourself with a rocket shot from the actual explosion in TF2

Mind explaining what part of my comment was wrong? I know rocket jumping hurts you and can kill you but if you are referring to Trimping then no it does not always involve using explosives iirc. unless im getting the terms wrong, im talking about the sword and tide turner for demo.

You mean transversive steps? You're literally talking about transversive steps.

I agree that it should have drawbacks of some sort, such as using the exotic and heavy slots or maybe an exotic using special ammo and dealing self damage while also dealing less damage to enemies so it serves more of a utility role. All in all i fail to see any reason why such things should not be in the game.

Im not familiar with those boots. Are they an enabler for skating or do you need them plus something else?
