there is a site to check how many clears you've done
It's an overlooked feature - with how OCD the community is about best builds and so on I'm suprised some type of boss overview hasn't been added by now as all the data is there in the background, it's just not presented to you.
Not really. There's many part of the community that like to maximise damage. It's not an elitist thing. The goal is ultimately to do the most damage to the boss yes? Being able to tell how much damage you're doing isn't a bad thing in that case. Personally I'd like to be able to try different weapon builds and maybe alternate mods to be able to do the most damage I can and that doesn't mean I give a hoot about anyone else's damage.
It is possible that the devs did weigh the importance of making dps data available through the game and decided not to. I agree that if it only shows your own damage, it can be a useful tool to gauge how a build or certain weapons perform under different conditions.
ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) players should be familiar with this. I think the devs there made a compromise, so that you can have an addon that will only show your damage done to a boss/target, and also as a percentage of the total damage done to said target, by the group you are in. You are not able to see the individual data for other players.
Despite that, those so inclined still go about capturing the logs of their battles and uploading them to a site to be "parsed"... you know, in case they wanted to compare and show who did 10 dps more than everyone else!
