controller sensitivity
I know not many of you will be using a controller so perhaps this is overlooked. Having played the original Destiny on PS4, playing with a controller just feels right to me. However, the controller sensitivity truly sucks.

I usually have a half controller half mouse set up, but the two interupt each other on D2 (which is a bit stupid). Playing PUBG this works fine for me as the mouse and controller work simultaneously. I have hotkeys mapped to my left hand on the d pad and triggers, plus the stick for movement; then the mouse hotkeys, look, aim and fire in the right hand.

I hope in the future there will be a better set up for players who wish to play with a controller, either by allowing mouse and controller to work together, or by tweaking the sensitivity of the controller settings. At present it's just waaaaay too slow. Battlefront, Battlefield, Warframe etc. etc. are all much more responsive when looking around.

Can you not just turn the sensitivity up?

I've got it maxed out, but max level here is like half that of other games I've played.

I had this issue last night but found a solution. It might seem strange but it fixed it. Try this:

Go into Big Picture mode
Select settings
Controller settings
Uncheck all the boxes
At the bottom, select "Hide device"
Back out and done

Basically you have to disable controller support to get controller support for this game. I'm using DS4 windows. Now my movement and camera sensitivity is normal.

Thanks. I'm not sure if this is going to solve my issue, but I'll give it a shot and report back.

Well, I still couldn't get any boost to look sensitivity. The controller works perfectly fine with no bugs...It's just tooooo slow. I mean it's playable maxed out at 10, but I could be crushing it if sensitivity was doubled.

whoa, i play full sensitivity on controller, but you must be next level if you want it even further. mad props for skill on the controller. thats my thing too, had to switch over a few years back permanently because of severe carpal tunnel. staying competative with some of the best kb/m players has been a real hoot, none of them ever ask if im on a controller LOL!

There aren't many of us haha. I was always a console gamer until a few years back I went PC. Controller with mouse has always been my preferred set up as I just never put the effort in to using the keyboard for movement. It just doesn't feel right after decades of console gaming. I remember playing Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield and the original Destiny on PS4 with much faster look settings. I usually end up at or near the top of crucible even with the less than preferable speed. If these k/m gamers only knew they were being destroyed with a controller :steammocking:

Bungie doesn't give you much option for controllers anyway you still can't tweak ads sensitivity. TBH you're better off learning mouse/KB.
Shiroe (cortana) Oct 28, 2019 @ 9:40am
well you could either learn to use mouse and kb or if you want to use full support for a controller, go back to the console....

PC will never 100% support controllers, there will always be a issue with it somewhere.

You, my dude, are my hero. I had the opposite issue with Warframe in that my controller was way to fast. Following these steps made it listen to the game settings, and not Steam settings.

Thanks!

I made the same post not long ago. I remember playing on xbox 360 on mw2 with max settings. It took almost a week to get used to speed because the turning speed was comparable to pc mouse ( you could 180 under half second).. It was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane. This 10 sensitivity is uber slow. I looked for a solution to bypass the 10 sensitivity but i found none. In big picture you can configure deadzones on controler which will make controler more responsive. Overall the sensitivity of the controler is slugish at best. You cant win any close encounter with a pc m+k player if he jumps over you etc because before you turn you get 2 shotguns in the back. Realy dissapointed on those sensitivity caps.

If anyone is interested i can tell how to go beyond ten by editing configuration files in steam.

I'm interested. 10 is way too slow for me. Thanks

Ok i will invite you. Accept and will explain to you how to make a custom configuration steam file. Steam has a lot of option to configure controllers but they are not configurable via steam and you need to edit the file with text editor. You need to know the list of commands.

Hey Burner, can you please help me out with creating a custom steam confirmation file to modify controller options. I’m pretty good with understanding code since I’m a developer but I’ve been trying to figure out what you’re saying is possible for so long. I sent you a friend request, any help will be appreciated please.

Isn't the leg armor perk "Traction" for controllers? Try that, I think it doubles the sensitivity judging by how many controller players cry about that it should just be an option instead of a mandatory perk.

The mouse and gamepad controls interrupt each other because each has its own control and aiming system and if you could aim with a mouse while the game plays like controller then that be stupidly broken for pvp.
