Any chance for a true offline mode for the single player ?
I'd be interested to buy this if it had an offline mode. Any official information on that ? It lists single player, but will there be any way to play it if the servers are down for instance ?

I skipped it entirely on Battle Net launcher because I understood that if your internet connection fails or the servers are down then you're basically locked out of the game completely. Nothing works.

Will this be the case for Steam as well or will there be an offline mode be implemented ?

I' really hate "always online" because it's just a form of rental. The servers can be brought down at any point (without my consent) in the future making the game completely unplayable.

Since I already have games that were bricked by past server shutdowns in my Steam library, I'd like to avoid getting more of the same.

Thanks !

Destiny 2 is an online, shared world, multiplayer oriented game. The odds of there being an official offline mode are slim to none.

OK, thx. Guess I'll skip it then. Who knows, maybe Destiny 3 will be different.

Have fun !

There's no chance for this. Especially now with Bungo pushing for Destiny to become more like an MMO so Destiny 2 and 3 will never have an offline mode.

I avoid this kind of games because the same you said, always online, sadly this game is decent but I won't buy anything more like this or similars, this is getting worse and they won't change their mind, so I'll do the same avoiding them.

It is free to play, if you want to play the single players campaigns then do that and you'll either be satisfied or you'll get hooked into the real game. There are plenty of offline single player games with much better campaigns than Destiny 2. If you want a great offline shooter looter then pick up the Borderlands 2 Handsome Collection.

I started doing the same. There's no way around it.

The "always online" requirement is the first thing I check. I completely skip "always online" games now, no matter how interesting they seem.

For the people that enjoy online only games, more power to them.

Lack of an offline mode is an instant deal breaker for me.
