So I've just done the heroic contact event on titan 5 times today...

Weird... in the past couple of seasons there would be a second box clearly stating "Bich get yo Season pass if you want your loot!" on heroic completion, and im not seeing a second box. Kinda assumed Bungie was being nice and throwing a freebie or something.

i have season pass, that box only give me glimmer, few planet resources or blue trash

Same, unless I've been missing something the event only gives glimmer + blues even if you have the season pass...

It's just a standard public event with standard public event loot - even heroic event loot is mostly blues. The only reason to do it (aside from Means to an End) is for the Umbral Engrams that it has a good chance to drop from the boss kill, when you've got the right upgrades on the recaster (it doesn't come from the chest).

There are perks that you can unlock to be able to earn umbral engrams from various sources which I assume require the season pass. Most of the time it comes from the boss, the chest is just a basic public event chest with nothing special.

with certain seasonal upgrades from the caster thing you can get different types of umbral engrams such as armor engrams from completing the heroic versions.

As they said, there are upgrades in the recaster that cause completing the event to have a large chance of dropping an umbral engram, and give it a chance to focus for free. Without those sorts of upgrades, it is probably not worth much.
