Why weapon i just got is limited to power level 1060?
Bungie dews want to turn us in to the nonstop grinding monkeys, by adding this new ♥♥♥♥♥♥ feature of weapon's max power level cap! Let's imagine for a sec that i am just fine that (which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), but WHY does a new weapon, that i just looted from a mission, has a max power limit of 1060?! Shouldn't the gear i get in THIS season has a limit of 1310 or 1360 or something? If newly looted weapons from older seasons are playable only for the current season, then their value is quite low. That is not taking in to account, that even a player that plays 2 days per week, can usually get to the light's level softcap and beyond by the middle of a season. But now it is impossible to go beyond softcap not just with the old armor and weapons, but with the newly looted gear too! Dear developers, are you insane?!
The best outcome you may hope for is that the players will use prize/reward weapons from quests and achievements, that can be recycled for resources and crafted anew from a menu. I bet in next season it's max light level will be upgraded to the new seasonal softcap, thus you can just easily recreate and upgrade you weapons to a playable state! It will also make farming of a new weapons useless, because one day they will get old, and turn the rest of the old weapons in to the too much pain in the ass to bother playing with. And if that won't work, people will simply leave the game, because ALL their progress will be lost. Well, because of this new feature people will leave anyway, but if their favorite submachine gun Recluse will become useless, their numbers will be much more numerous!

I have a recluse but i do not play with it. Either read the text and make a comment about the topic or back off, cheater!
The point of topic is why newly looted gear is limited to 1060 light. And forgive me for my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ english but i doubt you will be able to type, a meaningful post, or should i say a wall of text, in russian or german.

I'm pretty sure every single item in the game is limited to 1060 right now.

Even the season rewarded legendary weapons say they have a limit of 1060.

From this, it should be pretty obvious that no item will display a higher "max" level than the highest currently attainable level possible in the game.

you call me cheater like that means anything
I used words trolling scum originally, but then i thought that it might be a little bit to offensive and not justified, so i checked your page. You have a 3 years old VAC ban, so i typed cheater instead. Forgive me my honesty.
The point is, my post does have a point (hmm, tautology). And i would like to get a meaningful responce or none at all! Oh, and i prefere to grumble or to complain, but not to whine!

No, not every single item. I got myself another Honor's Edge in this season, with almost identical perks to my old one, and it has a power cap at 1310. Also some old items have cap of 1310 and 1260, and some 1060. If Bungie wants to bound lightcap to seasons, it will simply make all old gear useless starting with a new season. It will bound all players to quest gear, exotic gear and "new" gear, which is just a simple reskin of the old gear.
Damn! Now i got why my new gear is limited to 1060 light. Basicly, it doesn't matter when you got your gear. What matters is in which season it was put in the game. So you might still get a new loot which was implemented in an older season and thus you will be able to fully use it just in the season you got it. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up system!
I guess it means i have anwered my own question! And i can't make it an answer for the topic. Hmm, i'll just let it drown in to oblivion then.

good lord I didn't think of the impact that this would have in the long run of D2, now I can't decide if whether this or the devs leaving forge farmers and crucible cheaters unpunished is a lower move from bungie :steamsad:
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Gear from this season has a max of 1360, you must have found gear that came out in an earlier season, you can see which season it came with by the icon in the top left of the item.

I only play a bit but isnt everything that drop currently will be at 1360 max, random engram, umbral engram, even the 750 ones from rahool even though theyre old guns they still can reach 1360. Rip to those steelfeathers I farm on season of dawn though, and all the ritual weapons since theyre all 1060.

Yep! And that that is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ part of the new gear's light cap system! And it was done so you would have a bigger urge to waste your money on season pass for those 6 new weapons per season, when the game already has a tonn of all kinds of guns. And instead of balancing all that gear Bungie simply castrates it, making it useless for PVE!

The opposite actually, why buy season pass when now i know the guns will be useless next season, and i can get seraph guns for free from engram too almost no reason to get pass.

it's a lazy excuse; they simply do not know how to balance gear properly and the previous few seasons have demonstrated this time and time again

The idea was to make you buy the season pass, so you would be able to play with your gun a little bit longer and rise your light level above current soft cap. Some wierd guys like to do it. But as i have mentioned in the beginning, there are quest reward weapons, that are already fully upgraded and i am 99% sure that their light cap will be shifted with each new season. So in each new season you can break apart your old recluse and put it back together from your weapon collection with a higher light cap of the new season. And in terms of resources it will cost you almost nothing.

Only if they have the season of arrivals icon, yes a bunch of new stuff has been cycled into loot pools but there is also a lot of old loot that still drops.
Kobalobasileus Jun 13, 2020 @ 9:53pm
Old loot continuing to drop is problematic. Hopefully next season when 1060 is below the soft cap they'll remove 1060 cap items from the loot tables. Getting legendary drops that are way below the cap will be worse than getting rare drops under the old system.

I hate it myself. I had to invest a lot of time into playing Iron Banner to get my Bite of the Fox, and can't power it up anymore? Can't even reaquire another one via collections.

Im only a casual but I have to play against the sweaty competitive players who could be 200 light ahead of me just to get a version of the same gun that I can use in the tedious content they plan releasing later? What next? Pay to get higher light caps? I masterworked this stuff man, I want to keep using it.
