Destiny 2
What does the lore say about these pyramid ships?
Im curious from the cutscenes you get from xur i got the impression that the drifter hates the traveler? I also wonder if the nine are linked to the traveler? I got a feeling the darkness and traveler are closer then we might think because of the comic bungie released on osiris questioning the travelers intentions.

For anyone who hasn't seen the pyramid ships arrival link is below

Almost makes me think we are nothing then a sports show for ascendant beings pretending to be the light. Might be time to harvest the crop soon.

That is how the last two (known) civilizations that were groomed by the traveler ended.

@OP we are just a game to the light and dark, think of it like a game of civilization 5 where the darkness is that guy that takes over the whole map through military conquest and the traveler is the other guy that is happy to be a turtle and build a single tall civilization trying to win through science. Except this time around the traveler has finally "made a stand" and decided to break the rules (physics defying guardians) to try and win a single time against the "final pattern."

Wasnt that debunked? Rasputin hid hoping the darkness didn't see him as a threat and didn't save humanity hoping e darkness would be quick and leave something behind.

Guardians and ghosts came after the collapse and it was pretty much the traveler saying enough is enough, come at me again and lets end this.
I really hope with activision gone bungie takes the time to add all this lore that you gotta go dig for into cutscenes. I truly believe there is great potential in this game but its unused. We've been given more things of the same sort of outcome that resets back to the same normal instead of major story changers.

Ive also heard of guardians giving into the darkness so lets see it, let the players choose their side just like the old faction rallies. I was looking forward to leaving earth with the dead orbit faction.
I wonder what a 'dark' guardian would be like, in-game. The darkness has a survival of the fittest philosophy. Resurrecting the dead goes against it, part of the reason that Nokris from the Strange Terrain strike was considered a blasphemous outcast. The influence of the darkness (ie weapons imbued with it like Thorn) have also been the cause of guardians' 'true death' making their revival impossible. When falling to the darkness, Dredgen Yor parted ways with his own Ghost.

Can a 'dark' guardian have it both ways, serving the dark but also having their own little resurrection machine?
Might be cool to see that fleshed out in mechanics, maybe dark guardians are stronger but either suffer permadeath, or are thrown into their throne world's and need to survive an onslaught of light-based enemies to regenerate.

Technical immortality but weak, or become a god of war but mortal.

In order for players to use the darkness there would of have to be something there for them to come back. Awesome idea

I wish Super excited for fall DLC!
I think it'd be a nice excuse for a iron-man type mode of character in destiny, you care more about dying because you can only die once, but you're stronger for that mortality, maybe like 1.5x as much health and damage, some new skills and mechanics or supers, that kinda thing.

Dark guardians with seriously hard achievements would be a big deal because you'd have known they've never died once during them throughout their character's life, and it'd encourage a whole different kind of gameplay, where instead of not caring at all about yourself because you're immortal and just focusing on DPS, you're actually scared of dying, and are trying to stay alive while accomplishing your goals.

All of a sudden random red-bars and big events where people die alot become a whole lot more challenging and meaningful for those characters.

Worry NOT, Rasputin have aimed his bad Guns at Traveller.
I think the Hive (or at least advanced members like Oryx and Savathun) basically fills the "Dark Guardians" niche already, lore-wise. What with the Sword Logic religion, individuals being literally metaphysically powered by killing others, throne worlds, etc.

That said, the Drifter throws up a lot of red flags for me. Despite Gambit deaths not being permanent, his outlook and ideologies reek of Worm philosophy. Ever since I first read up on him, I've strongly suspected he's a Big Bad being developed in the background for some eventual expansion/sequel. He is IMO the Darkness trying to attack the guardians by corrupting them rather than just fighting/killing them.

I disagree making us go out of our way to find out more about the game is a horrible design choice. Bland story with missing parts always fails.

Actually, by going through his quest and hearing the tapes he left behind, he seems more like a prepper who's deeply traumatised by the events of the Dark Age. His involvement with the nine is... interesting in this context.
