Because they put in crap you need to go to the forum to figure out how to deal with which seemingly only became a thing this season? Ye I know right its ridiculous they'd put something that dumb in the game.
Then again I've not heard great things about bungie so it's kinda no wonder its f2p
Yeah, god forbid you have to help out the community and teach a new player how mechanics work.
It's almost like its the devs job to make sure the player knows the mechanics by something other than a hover over icon that blends into the background on a loading screen...
You're probably a bit young for this, but games like Megaman and Mario would teach you with the first few levels by introducing everything bit by bit with the only solution being the new mechanic. I certainly didn't skip the starting mission that explains this seasons mods and what they do in detail which would suggest they just expected you to read the patch notes to get it or google it.
If the interwebz had existed in the days of early console gaming that you are referring to, those games would not have had such a long tutorial process either.
Ok, Barrier champions, and Champions in general have been around for three seasons. You have Unstoppable Champions which take an unstoppable mod on your weapons. Barrier Champions take a weapon with the Anti-Barrier mod on them and Overload Champions take a weapon that has the Overload rounds mod. Bungie introduced all of this when Shadowkeep was released, and so far, its made the game far more interesting. They made it f2p when they came over from blizzard. Sure they have made mistakes, all developers do, but they have a skeleton crew working on Destiny in general, a few people working on a new game, and a few other people working on seasons for Destiny and the next DLC. It has to be rough on their end of things and they are really trying their best to please the community in any way they can, only to get ragged on for not doing it the way a handful of people want. I hear non-stop complaining about Bungie as a whole, and yet they have worked hard to bring us a world that they think we would enjoy. Does it seem ridiculous at times with five barrier champions popping out from every add spawn point? Yeah, absolutely. But, have the mods ready and face the challenge they have given us.
