What role do Linear fusion rifles fill?
They seem to be charge up sniper rifles with less zoom when scoping. I personally was hoping for something more like a charge up laser cannon, instead they feel... unsatisfying to shoot.

I mean, they are a charge up laser cannon...not quite sure what you want that they don't do.

Fusion rifles are charge up 3-round burst laser rifles, Linear fusions are charge up...lasers.

Pew!

I guess i was hoping for bigger lasers haha but in all seriousness the only Linear fusions i have experience with are the Arbalest and Crooked fang. When using Arbalest in pvp it feels like a normal sniper with less zoom but i can see its function in PvE for blowing up shields and shielded bosses. For the Crooked fang and other normal Linear fusions you have a single high damage death beam, a thin one at that, and it seems to function like a sniper rifle.

I guess what i was hoping for was big beams able to go through thin walls and take out groups of enemies, kinda like the Opticor from warframe.

They open holes

They do more damage than snipers and shoot through more than one enemy, but in pvp they serve no purpose because snipers can 1 shot anyway.

Yes they open holes, but rocket launchers turn groups into holes and grenade launchers turn multiple smaller groups into holes and machine guns put many big holes into things.

My point here being that other power weapons such as rockets and grenades and machineguns are all good for clearing groups as well as being good for dealing damage to bosses, and Linear fusion rifles do great damage to bosses but why would you use a crooked fang linear fusion when you could use a whisper of the worm sniper for boss damage? and why is sleeper simulant the only one (that i know of) which is capable of over penetrating targets? and why cant linear fusions go through small barriers like thin walls or such?

Sleeper Simulant and Queen Killer are decent ones.

Linear fusions is like the red headed step child weapon class. Wonder why there are soo few variants and most legendaries are just copies of one another (new ritual no excemption)

The 20% damage buff helps but imo there needs to be more variety

Arbalist - like it but its ok (in pvp it devestates atm)

Sleeper - very nice but showing its age

Queen - one of the better

And legendaries...eeh
