Graviton Lance Catalyst.

Without a doubt one of the weirdest catalysts to level. 500 kills and 1000 cosmology kills. What's cosmology? Well, it is the weapon's effect. When you kill something, the enemy explodes and turns into bouncing goo balls that seek enemies. The problem is, these balls really don't do a lot of damage initially, so what's the best way to level this?

Youtube tells you to do a mission on mars and it will take 30 minutes. Lies, lies I say. I tried this and after 30 minutes, I was up 14% and I outright refused to do that for another 4 hours. So, I thought and thought and it dawned on me. The room in the shattered throne where you can't jump and don't regen. Now you'd say "That's suicide!" but it isn't. Be a warlock, use the devour spec, pop the buff and the enemies will literally keep you alive.

I got to around 1400 kills in 20 minutes with that and now my weapons is fully complete. The hidden hand perk assisting the aim is hilarious in PvP as I don't even have to aim for the head anymore... I literally watched the bullet curve, it's sad, but the range increase makes me happy. I love the gun, range was rough on initial hit, now the initial hit and the secondary hit, hit for full at sniper's range and it explodes them and makes the enemies scatter. Glorious weapon, but screw that catalyst leveling xD.

The "get kills with the weapons special effect" shows up on a few other catalysts like Sunshot. It is pretty annoying since it requires you to wait for weak enemies to group up. In "normal" play, either enemies won't be close enough to get hit, or they wont die from the weapon effect.
Going to mars is a fairly decent way to work on these things, since Escalation Protocol 1 summons hordes of thrall that will politely clump together for multikills. Get the kills, let the EP fail, repeat.

Still better than the grind for Erianna's Vow catalyst.

Another way of doing it is starting the Whisper of the Worm mission and farming the shadow thralls that spawn below the green room. For future reference.

Problem is, most people don't like failing the EP. So, I devised this little method and it worked like a charm.

If you have Forsaken load into the last wish raid and look up a guide for how to get to shuro chee with the wishing wall. A bunch of taken spawn in at the beginning of the encounter and you can speed through a lot of catalysts here really well, including graviton lance. Just kill all the taken, die and you'll respawn at the beginning of the encounter, rinse repeat.

It's funny, but today I got a Graviton Lance Catalyst in a simple strike. :)

Best way to tear through this catalyst is on the Moon. Head up to the altars event. I busted through the catalyst from 3% Cosmology to full in 3 full runs. Took no time at all.

In fact, this would work well for Sweet Business as well. Definitely recommend it.

Yea, Graviton's Catalyst was disgusting to level. IIRC, only the seekers could progress the Cosmology objective rather than the explosion (unless that changed). Didn't help that kills launched enemies backwards before they detonated, and suicide units do their own detonation.

Yeah, weapon catalysts have some really weird outliers. Graviton Lance and Sunshot were by *far* the worst offenders.

For what it's worth, I got the last ~44% or so of the Lance catalyst done in a single solo run of the Whisper Heroic mission - get to the pit below the 'green room' where there's the endless shadow thrall spawns, then run to the far end where the cubby hole is, and then...sit there. Just shoot every time a thrall gets too close or when the graviton effect ends.

I got Sunshot done while doing several Reckoning runs.

And forget catalysts found in the Crucible, I don't understand what masochists Bungie thinks we are to grind for those.

Unless Bungee fixed that, most hilarious catalyst is for MIDA multi-tool. Like go to 5500 in Competitive, and you have a CHANCE to get a catalyst. That adds you an Outlaw. Anyone designed that has his brain disconnected from head.

The cata is now a guaranteed drop on your 1st win at legend rank which is nice, its still 250 kills tho. I got to like 75 and just gave up cos I dont really want outlaw that much.
