First, your armor's stat rolls. If it has the stats you want, as high as you want, that's fine.
Second, it's mod affinity. Some armor mods go in certain armor parts (such as helmet, or arms), and need the right affinity(arc, solar, void), although you need to get the mod first. If you have the right affinity on the right armor for the mods you want to use, that's fine.
Third, there's a few mods that only fit in special "seasonal" slots. They're highly specific and you only need to worry about them if you A. have them and B. want to use them. Only certain armor sets have a slot for that season. If you need to fit a seasonal mod, you need those armors in specific, but otherwise, that's fine.
So besides all that, no, not really.
