Not saying it can't be fun, just that the game was clearly not designed around that part and turned out to be just a casual activity you do either for fun or for bounties and quests. If you wanted something competitive, just play another game.
I think you're missing their point, being able to thrive in an unbalanced environment doesn't make that environment any better. Nobody actually cares about your ability to win with a non-meta gun, it doesn't change the fact that some guns and exotic armors give a huge advantage and are more efficient than other stuff.
Player's skill isn't even relevant to the discussion, I mean a terrible player with "OP" gear could lose to a good player with random gear, but they still wouldn't be in a fair environment anyway.
(Bringing up the MMR argument is kinda childish, I don't know them, maybe they actually have a low MMR, but it doesn't matter much, especially when the Matchmaking can go so wrong that it matches a full premade team of veterans against new players who just started the game).

i'm only see the issue in pvp is sniper rifle and stupid radar that so much helpful than player skill.
