"Dont bother doing the old campaigns, its not worth it"
Why do people keep saying this?

Millions of dollars went into the creation of these campaigns: art, music, cgi cinematics, etc...

Even if it doesnt give us better gear, I might as well enjoy the spectacle that many artists poured years of their lives into.

really its not that great.

Because it's mostly the vets that have played it time and time again that tell you this. Their idea of a game is play endgame immediately.

Empathy isn't their strong suit, I think.

Not only is it not great, but I don't think you can access all of it anymore. Or can you? I mean, I've been following the original campaign steps and I haven't seen a single cutscene or piece of dialogue hinting at any story whatsoever. Just those old quests and that's it. Unless there's a proper way to start the original campaign, one that the game hasn't showed me yet at all.

I'm no that much of a "veteran" for this game since i got the game like half a year before it went f2p. I got to enjoy the main story, the side-quests and the endgame. I have to say the story is well made. I guess it really depends on the person that's playing it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: The story was good, i don't know if it is anymore, haven't played that much yet.

Well, the game makes absolutely no effort to point that out, cuz I've never seen any indication of that. I guess that shows how much the devs themselves care for the story: they propel newcomers straight into endgame, encourage endgame activities with those bloody introductory missions, and they don't point you out to the original campaign. Gotta go out of your way to get that information.

If you didn't play the first game and isn't familiar with the lore, you should get into that before starting the campaign, btw. Regardless if it's good or bad, everyone has to agree that it's painfully confusing if you're not familiar with the game's lore. I played some of it last year and I could not tell you what was going on. The only thing I know about this game is that the Traveler is some sort of God-like entity that made humans advance thousands of years. I know that because that was the simples thing about the first game's promotional campaign.

yeah it sucks, warframe is guilty of this too, the quest system is stupid beyond reason

That's cuz Warframe didn't have a story to begin with. And then when they decided they should probably get to adding one, they didn't quite know how to go about that. It's a shame that Warframe is trying to fix that and Destiny is doing the opposite. But either way, the story of D2 was already not that great even before this update because you HAVE to be familiar with the lore to understand anything about it. Their first mistake was to make a direct sequel to an online game that wasn't available on PC, then release it on PC and expect those who never even had a console to go out of their way to watch something like a 3h long video on the entire lore. We already know at this point how they handled lore in the first game and if I'm being honest, I don't think much has improved on that regard on the sequel.

Okay okay, but where would a Veteran start if he doesn't own Shadowkeep?
For Maximum efficiency, gear-wise.
And if we would slow down a bit, which campaign is most enjoyable?
Right now I am just lost in EDZ, questioning if there is something "better".

My guess is that veterans start by buying Shadowkeep. If you played everything there was to play up to Shadowkeep, I think that's that. You need it if you want the loot that comes with it. No two ways about it.

There's lore and it can be spotty, but interaction with NPC as well as progression through campaign content as well as dialog provided by your ghost usually clears it up filling you in on back story. As far as hard core lore is concerned Bungie was revamping it all through out destiny 2. As far as writing the chaos that envelops the "lore" of the game is quite reasonable from a realist point of view as who the h3ll is really going to know the absolute truth about anything -it all boils down to learning through progression & discovery (data collection & forensics).

Most vets don't solicit jumping into end-game, but the opposite for new players and usually constrain themselves to the vet circles exclusively as to not overload others or themselves.

If you're a new player -play the campaign, play the faction leader missions (adventures) for each planet then play the dlc content rinse and repeat as necessary. if you're new then vet gameplay semantics are not of any concern to you -you need to focus and just play the freakin game that simple people.

Oh, the BS about having to know lore to get anywhere in the game is simply that, BS -never read such trite; keep it real. Play the game, shoot stuff and get cool looking weapons & armor -easy peasy!

I don't think anyone ever said that. What I said, however, is that understanding the story is difficult if you're not familiar with the lore. I didn't find the minimal exposition they give to be enough at all, since the game starts off with a lot of things happening without proper context. Y'all who are familiar with the lore might find it easy to understand everything, but for anyone playing D2 for the first time, it'll all be very confusing. There's a whole lot to keep track of and it's just not that simple unless you commit yourself to it.

It's just a fact that Bungie hasn't handled Destiny lore all that well. Same for DE with Warframe, with their decision to implement a story long after the game had been first released.

Game doesn't have lootboxes. It does have emotes and multiplayer though. In fact in seems like alot of these whiners would prefer a p2w game with lootboxes if it meant they could watch a meaningless number go from 1-50.

So many mobile gamers that should honestly just be playing cookie clicker.

wasnt new light suppose to be where guardians are born after forsaken?
I think thats what they said in the timeline wise in their video probably why they dont tell you
how to do the old story
either way I think new light fails as the intention from what i saw in all their videos was
"you can play with your friends and you wont be behind"
